Leaving a wonderful life Rudy Sinclair had always known was the worst thing that has ever happened to her.
Forks, Washington was absolutely Hell on Earth. Too much rain. Not a single Dr. Pepper in sight. She would surely die of thirst.
That is if...
Words of love and devotion mean nothing when they come from a person who leaves. They are just empty promises meant to soothe heartache—a pathetic excuse to ditch the ones they're supposed to care for.
That's how Rudy's always viewed it. She has repeatedly seen up close how words of fluff can break a person down. Nothing was going to change her mind even after meeting the odd Isabella Swan.
She would rather fling herself in a ditch filled with acid than beg someone to stay in her life. Over her dead body will she beg for someone to love her, cherish her. Not even her parents got that satisfaction when they left her to go gambling.
All they did was ask her for her spare change before running away off into the southern sunset. Didn't even give her a second glance as they did so.
Rudy Sinclair wasn't going to let some wet ass Forks, Washington break her down to a speck of lint. This new town won't somehow get her to confront all her problems. She has none.
Even if that meant she had to deflect every kind and sincere request for friendship that got thrown her way.
Rudy was prepared to become the biggest monster that Forks had ever seen. It's the only way for her to stay sane.
