What was supposed to be a typical day is actually rather brutal. No one expected any of this to happen. And it's only just the beginning.

Rudy reclines deep into the brown suede couch in Jasper Hale's room with a hefty history textbook in her hands when the front door slams open. The harsh noise causes her to jolt and accidentally spill her case full of colorful pens and highlighters.

A groan flees her lips as she realizes her study session had just been canceled. They had just started too. They will never finish with this noise. This is ridiculous!

She tosses the book to her side and jumps up with a huff. Jasper rises from where he sat on the floor. His expression lets Rudy know that there is drama brooding downstairs. Yay...

Even though he's been in high school several times and pretty much knows everything that doesn't mean he won't endure the mental torture that is homework alongside her. She likes that about him. A real team player. Plus, he's basically a history textbook walking on lean, muscular legs.

"Wait here." Jasper kisses the side of her curly head gently before walking past her and out the door into the hall. The action causes her heart to skip a beat and flutter at the same time. She likes watching his blonde curls carelessly bouncing away with each powerful step he takes.

Geez, when did it get so hot in here? Rudy adjusts the collar of her shirt just a little.

The action stuns her in place. Her feet are now firmly planted on the dark brown carpet. He knows exactly what his touch does to Rudy. She hates that. It's awfully intoxicating. Stupid men and all their ways to rile women up.

She crosses her arms and decides she is going to brood in this exact spot until he returns. Rudy is fairly good at that.

Though that doesn't last when a shouting match begins downstairs. The girl instantly recognizes her best friend's pained voice.

Rudy's vision tries going red but she reels it in before she gets out hand.

Without much thought, she whisks down the elegant stairs to find the whole Cullen family pitted against Bella and Edward.

Well, shit.

Rudy cuts across the crisp white living room to the far corner where Jasper stands. He seeks out her hand instantly, not the right one, it's all twisted from healing the wrong way when she last punched Jake in the face.

She doesn't like anyone to talk about it or look at it. The hand still gives her nightmares. Sometimes the wolf guy still tries to apologize for it even though it was she who did it to herself.

His cold fingers welcome her warmth. Like he is a moth to her flame. His amber eyes find her green ones in mere seconds before breaking away to watch the scene unfold.
