Most people would agree that a human child should grow slowly after they are born to wallow in all that is innocent and fresh. Well, Rudy is sure that kids aren't supposed to look like they're seven months old when in fact they are only three weeks. Talk about terrifying.Rudy forces herself to hide her clenched fists when they finally allow Charlie to come down to the Cullen house. It is truly devastating to see his reaction to Bella's new appearance. She almost can't bear to watch how his old brown eyes just melt.
It is an honest struggle to not collapse into Jasper's chest like a wimp. It'd prove that she can't handle her shit like a Texan.
She is sure Charlie isn't an idiot. It has been fairly obvious that Bella was never actually at a spa. But maybe the chief doesn't want to even ask what the hell changed his daughter into this wonderful being.
Rudy thinks it best for him to smile down at Nessy and just go along with it. It is what's best for everyone at this point. Even though it's extremely hard to act as if the way Nessy got here is completely fine. Well, it's not but what is she supposed to do about it?
So, she stands from the side in the big grand living room with many windows. Holding Jasper's hand in her tightly. Trying to keep herself sane.
Keep calm, She tells herself over and over again.
She can see Edward's mouth twitch up slightly. Perhaps listening in on her mind going wild as usual. Rudy doesn't give a shit. All she cares about is watching her best friend and father fawn over the child in their arms.
"Huh, that's weird. She kinda looks like you Bells." Charlie chuckles to himself. Most likely wondering why Edward's niece resembles his own child.
Rudy bites her bottom lip harshly. Doing her best to contain a smile. Knowing full well that this kid sure did come out of Bella. Though there is no smugness to that recent memory. It was brutal.
Jasper notices her nervous expression. Tucking her deeper into his chest. She instantly feels better in his embrace. Aware that he will always be here to calm her racing heart.
He leans down to whisper in her left ear. "I'm sorry."
Puzzled, Rudy shoots a troubled gaze up at him. Searching through his bright amber eyes. Trying her best to find whatever he means.
She signs once she realizes what he means. Rudy knows that he will forever feel guilty about her Change. The fact that she will never grow old or have children on her own still weighs on him. It won't go away unless she reassures Jasper that everything will be alright for them.
Rudy smiles as Bella looks over to her with a massive grin on her face. She shoots her one back.
"You know, if I got to see any kid grow up to be big and strong I'm glad it's Bella's," Rudy confesses with a smirk. Already she imagines Nessy being a little bookworm like her mother. Yeah, that's the perfect vision.
