Finding one's self in a small town filled with people who turn up their noses at country folk is rather difficult. Not even firecracker Rudy Sinclair is having any luck in feeling at home.

Even she's beginning to notice her own personality is spiraling downhill. She isn't sure if her attitude can be any more rude. At times she finds herself sneering at people, she never notices until they run in the opposite direction.

However, all that pent-up anger and snide behavior tends to slip away when she's with her best friends.

She's been sitting on this tall flat brown rock watching Jake teach Bella how to ride his motorbike for a few hours now. So far it's a hilarious sight. Rudy refuses to hide her laughter when Bella fails to keep the bike standing.

Seeing her friend's face twist in confusion as she tries to understand everything is honestly priceless. It's better than her usual frown.

Rudy watches Bella adjust on the bike for a third time before working on her journal. She creates pictures to soothe her burning soul. It had been Aunt Jane's suggestion.

She highly encouraged Rudy to record her thoughts and ideas on how to be a nicer person. Rudy laughed in her face and flipped her the bird. And yet she still took her up on it.

That woman is really crazy it seems even with her rare ideas that make sense. Rudy found her once in the back of the yard whispering about ancient gods. Praying that Rudy gains a third eye and peers into the realm of magic.

She made the big mistake of howling in hoarse laughs. Then her aunt called Grandma Velma. That shut Rudy's mouth real quick.

It's clear that she's starting to hate her grandmother with all her guts. Always calls the landline to check up on her. Never wanting to actually speak with Rudy.

     Rudy knows it was cruel.

So that was her word for today.

She rests on that damp cool rock, her legs crossed beneath her, glad that it isn't totally freezing, and scratches that word into the middle of the page with her red pen. Her fingers twist around to draw pictures to resemble her inner rage.

"You remember everything I said?" Jake repeats to a frightened yet determined Bella.

Rudy tears her attention away from her doodle book with a scowl. Her face turns all red and angry. Nothing unusual there.

Bella nervously nods her head as she climbs back onto the bike that has been recently put together.

"What happens if you forget something?" Rudy casually shrugs her shoulders and shuts her journal, keeping it closed with a large rubber band.

Jaked rolls his soft brown eyes and instructs Bella not to worry and that everything is going to be fine. Rudy scoffs and hops off the rock to stand tall, her hands instantly on the decent curve of her hips.
