Witnesses have been gathering to see the true images of Nessy and how she was created. Most of them answer Carlisle's call for help. All of them rush to see what they might do.
Rudy despises every single vampire that now lurks in the Cullen house. She has just begun to feel like she belongs in this crisp home. Now it is invaded by these outsiders. It makes the strange protective instincts surface.
For the past few weeks, she wouldn't leave Bella or Nessy's side. Neither did Jake. The two of them became a small unit of guards. Prepared for any strike to come Nessy's way.
And it was Rudy who put aside her resentment towards the child for causing Bella's horrific death. Allowing her inner monster to rise and stone expressions to be presented always.
Not even Jasper knew what to do. However, he does not hesitate to tell her how great of a job she's doing. Jasper does this by giving Rudy soft kisses on her pale cheek, offering gentle hugs, and telling her stories of his time in the Civil War.
She knows how much he wanted to forget that terrible past. It wasn't hard to recognize he still sees himself as this evil person who once ruined lives. But Rudy says nothing about it. It seemed like the best to let him speak.
It not only lets Rudy know more about him but also gives him the chance to unload and finally breathe.
None of the Cullen family can keep calm as Alice and Oliver are gone. Somewhere they are hunting for their last lead.
Rudy knows full well they won't be back in time before the Volturi arrives. They will have to confront those mysterious vampires without them. She isn't at all calm about that thought.
In just three days they will set out over the frozen lake. Where they will come face to face with the vampire law. Rudy sure the hell isn't ready for it.
But she and Jake form a plan to keep Nessy safe in case things go south. Though no one knows that if things happen Rudy won't flee with the wolf and the child.
Rudy is going to stay and fight for her found family. No matter how cheesy it sounds. They never abandoned her. So, she will return the favor. Perhaps kick some ass in the process.

"Please tell me my hair is okay. I can't face these dickheads with wrecked hair." Rudy whine as the ice wind blasts in her and Jasper's faces while they walk behind the rest of the Cullens.
