It was a cold, clear morning in London, pavements fresh with dew from the overnight frost. Finn donned a large trenchcoat, as he walked through the doors of XL Records. His team were already there in the studio, with a couple of XL's top executives. The label wasn't as big as some in the industry. But they had a catalogue of top artists and a reputation for talent finding. Adele, Dizzy Rascal, Radiohead had all started out at the label, and so a contract from them meant you had something.
"Morning everyone." Finn greeted everyone as he entered. Introductions were made around the room and hot drinks were served before they got down to the music.
"So Finn, what do you have for us?"
"A good record I hope." He smiled. "We've spent our time in the studio laying down a lot of songs, trying to find a cohesive set that says what I want to say and sound like a journey I want this album to be.
Some of the stuff is fairly old for me, stuff I've written over the past few years. Important songs that I feel will be the backbone of the record. Then, I've wrote and recorded some stuff specifically for this project. If I'm being honest, I think it's a couple of songs of being done. I have a larger recorded catalogue but I don't think those songs for this. I can take you through what we have and see if you agree."
