"Angel—Hey—Angel.." I mumbled lowly, tapping Khalil's shoulder gently to try and wake him.
Eventually, he slowly stirred awake and began to blink the sleep from his eyes.
"The pain meds." I stated, nodding to the two pills I'd placed on the napkin sitting on the nightstand.
"Oh," he muttered lowly, shifting up.
"Be careful," I reminded while moving over to his side so I could help him sit up against the headboard.
Once he was up, I grabbed both the pills, and the glass of water I'd poured.
After handing him the pills, I waited until he was ready before handing him the glass of water as well.
He took both and then handed the glass and napkin to me while I spoke.
"You aight?" I asked.
"Yeah—I'm okay—I'll be even better when the medicine kicks in." He giggled.
I cracked a small smile at that before responding, "you're gonna have to put sum' on your stomach—since you took the meds."
"Ugh—yeah you're right." He groaned.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"Nothing really, maybe just some toast, I'm not very hungry." He replied.
"Are you sure?" I questioned with creased eyebrows, "it's been a while since we've had anything, and I know your bodies' been through a lot."
"Yeah, I'm just tired—the toast will be fine for now." He insisted, shaking his head.
"—how are the babies, I really shouldn't be sleeping like this." He frowned.
"They're good—I got it, you need to rest," I spoke.
He shouldn't have been doing any moving at all considering everything his bodies been through in the last couple of hours—health was the only thing I wanted him to focus on right now.
"Aren't you tired, too, twins is a lot Saint—I can't just leave it all to you while I sleep." He stated, expression drenched in sadness.
"You good Angel," I reassured, leaning down to motion for a kiss.
After slowly meeting my lips and sharing the kiss, he spoke again.
"I'm sorry." He apologized.
"stop." I stated, "it's not gonna kill me to watch my own kids Khalil—get your rest—I'm not debatin'."
