I said standing on to my surgery step to perform my first operation since I had surgery myself, Jo stood opposite me and gave me a slight thumbs up encouraging me,
'okay, everybody get settled because this is going to be at least a 10 hour surgery and that is only if there is no complications; so throughout this surgery stay hydrated, fed and please take a break when you need',
I said looking around at my surgical staff, I looked up at the viewing box and saw Alex but quickly avoided his eye contact and looked back down at my patient before letting out a slight breath,
'scalpel',
I said holding my hand out, Bohkee handed it to me. I lowered the scalpel pressing it onto the skin, I went to make the first cut but I was interrupted when I heard the intercom,
'doctor y/l/n before you make any cuts; I want to know if you have been medically cleared to operate?',
Someone asked me, I looked up and realised that it Alex, my boyfriend and the chief of surgery. I let out a shaky breath and nodded my head at him,
'I have been cleared to be here Chief Karev',
I said addressing my boyfriend formally as I knew he was coming at me as my boyfriend and not as my boss. I could see the tension in his jaw,
'where is it? It should have been on my desk before you even stepped foot in the OR',
Alex said to me, I let out a shaky breath before stepping down from my stepping stool,
'doctor Karev would you able to meet me in the scrub room?'.
