"She's not your mother, Punzie." Jack said. "Please, believe me, she's not your mother, and its dangerous for you if you stay any longer. You need to come with me, before-"

"Before what? Before someone finds out that you're here, trying to take me away?" Rapunzel whirled around angrily. "How would you know that she's not my mother?" She asked. "You're just afraid of being alone again, so you're making up stories, so that I'll go with you! Well, I'm not going with you!"

"Rapunzel, I'm serious, she's not your mother!" He said desperately.

"How do you know that?"

"I can't tell you, not here, not now. Please-"

"No." She said firmly, stepping back from the boy. "You're always keeping secrets from me. Either tell me everything you know now, or I'm not going with you."

"Punz-" he stopped at the sound of incoming footsteps.

"Last chance to leave without getting caught, Jack." Rapunzel said. "Goodbye." She turned around as the door opened.

"Rapunzel." The woman sighed as she walked over, pulling her into her arms. "Oh, I'm so relieved that you're alright. There was a slight security breach earlier, and- oh, darling, haven't I told you not to leave the windows open?" She said, walking over to close it. "What if one of those Lost Children tried to take you from me again?"

"I wouldn't go with them, mother." Rapunzel said.

"I know you wouldn't, but sometimes they don't listen to what you want, darling." She said. "We haven't found who sneaked in, so you'll have to be extra careful, okay? The guards will find him soon, then we'll set an example of him-"

"No! Don't hurt him. Please." Rapunzel blurted out.

"He was here earlier, wasn't he?" She asked. Rapunzel nodded. "Why didn't you call for the guards? What if he had hurt you?"

"Jack would never hurt me." Rapunzel said. "But you were right. He did try to convince me to leave with him. But I didn't leave, mother."

"Yes, darling. You made a wise choice, choosing not to leave with him." She said, hugging her. "What did he say to try to make you leave?"

"He said that it would be dangerous for me if I stayed, saying that you weren't my mother-" Rapunzel paused as she felt the woman stiffen. "B-but I know that's not true, so I told him to leave."

The woman smiled down at her, stroking her hair. "Good girl." Rapunzel smiled up at her.

"Ow!" Rapunzel yelped, pulling away. Her hand flew to the side of her neck as she stared at the woman, the tiny metallic object in her hand. "What did you do to me?" She asked, stumbling.

"Don't worry. Its just a little sedative, that's all. Can't have you damaged." The woman said. The door opened and a stretcher was pushed in. "Take her to the Transplant Room." She ordered.

"You should have listened to your friend." The woman said, looking down at her. "I'm not your mother, Rapunzel." She leaned down, stroking the side of Rapunzel's face. "I look forward to my new vessel."

Jack tried to peek through the heavily tinted windows, but he couldn't see anything. Was she even still using this room? Had they moved her to a different room?

It was late- early?- enough that the patrols had either fallen asleep or had left to the bars, so if she was in, she had to be asleep. He knocked on the window, hoping she could hear him.

The window opened. "Rapunzel?" He called softly as he climbed in. "Where are you?"

"You came back."

"To tell you everything." Jack said.

"There's no need for that." She said. "I already know everything."

Jack paused. "What? Ow!" He yelped, feeling a stinging pain in the side of his neck. "Wha-" his stumbled, seeing stars.

"Also, I prefer the name Gothel, now." She said, stepping out from the shadows. She smiled down at him, a crueller, colder version of Rapunzel's smile. "She was so hopeful that you would come in time to sweep in and save the day. How unfortunate."

The doors opened, and two men came in. "Take him away." She ordered as she straightened up. "He'll come in useful later."

The AU where Rapunzel and Jack are clones, bred to be taken over by their originals. The Lost Children are the batch of clones who escaped from the Institute, and continue their efforts to save the rest of the clones. Rapunzel's 'mother' is her original, and she gets taken over. Boohoohoo.
