Third Person POV
From [Y/N]'s journal~
June 28th ,1914
I have a bad feeling.... A feeling that something terrible is going to happen... Something that will change everything... Nastya said that I'm being dramatic for no reason, but tonight I had a nightmare again. Someone got shoot in it...
Alexei said, it's just a bad memory from Romania, that comes back in my dreams, but I remember the place from the nightmare, it was Sarajevo...
Something's going to happen there...She sighed, puting down the quil and closing the journal. She gazed outside the window. It was such a beautiful summer day... But this inner concern wouldn't let her fully enjoy it...
[Y/N] closed her eyes, and layed her head on the desk.
Suddenly, someone put a hand on her shoulder. Frightened, she practically jumped, almost falling off her chair.
" Jesus Christ!" She screamed.
" Nope... It's just me.
" Alyosha! For God's sake, don't scare me, like that!"
" Sorry..." He chuckled lightly." But you seem very worried... What's wrong?"
"Nothing..."
" Mm-hm... And this ' nothing ' is called also ' my nightmare won't leave my mind alone' He leaned his elbows on the desk.
" How did you know...?"
" I can read minds ~" He joked
" Oh, really ~ she played along.
" Yes. And I know what will make you feel better."
" What?"
" You need some fresh air. It will help you to relax. All the girls are in the garden, you should join them."" Well... Whatever the 'mind-reader' says~" she giggled and stood up from her seat.
______________________________________" Who do you, girls, want to be in the future." Maria asked as they all sat in a circle.
" I don't know, yet." Olga shrugged.
" Tatiana ?"
" I would like to be a teacher. Teaching is such a noble profession."
" I think you have predispositions..."[Y/N] smiled.
" Yeah ,for the strict one." Anastasia cut in.
" Teachers have to be a little strict, or the students won't listen."
" [Y/N/n], you against me...?!" Nastya cried out dramatically.
" I'm not against any of you, girls. I promise, I'm always on your side." She assured." Anyway, what are your plans for the future, Mashka?"
" I'm going to get married and have 8 children!"
" 8... That's a dedication..." [Y/N] mumbled.
" I'm going to be an actress! " Anastasia exclaimed.
" And what about you, [Y/N/n]?" Olga asked and the girl's face instantly flushed. " You won't laugh, will you...?" She murmured.
" Of course, we won't. You know us!" Maria assured. Her friend took a deep breath." OK... But if you laugh..."
" We won't!" The girls promised together.
...." I've always dreamed to become a princess, meet a prince from across the sea, marry him and live happily ever after.... You can laugh."
No one laughed.
" That's beautiful dream, [Y/N/n]." Tatiana smiled warmly.
" I'm sure it will come true." Olga added. Anastasia smirked.
" [Y/N], that's beautiful, but you could look a little closer~ Instead of across the sea, you could check across the tree, over there." She pointed in the direction, where her little brother was sitting.
" I couldn't...My social status is too low..." [Y/N] sighed softly, pure sadness in her voice." Future tsars don't marry simple countesses..."
Maria gasped. " So you really do like him...?!" The girl didn't answer with any montion or any word. Luckily, no one else but them didn't hear what Mashka said.
" Oh, [Y/N]..." She looked at her pitifully.
" Sad, but true... " The girl forced a smile onto her face. " But all the people say, the first time liking someone it's always the worst... I'll get over it, eventually.... I hope..." Last two words she said with much less confidence in her voice.
" I'm already very lucky to have his friendship... Besides, we're kids. I'm 9, he's 10. There must be something wrong with me, to like someone in so early age! That's embarrassing..." She covered her face with her hands.
" I don't think it's embarrassing....
" Sure, why would it be...?
" I think, it's adorable!"
Olga, Tatiana and Maria said in a row.
" Besides, you won't stay kids forever, right?" Anastasia added.
" She's got a point... You never know what future brings..." Tatiana murmured, as [Y/N] chuckled. " I would have to be a princess, or something like that..."
" But you like him." The youngest Grand Duchess stated.
" Even if so...Then what? He's gonna marry princess Ileana of Romania. End of the story."
" Ileana...?! She's 5! And 5 years younger than him!" Anastasia snickered.
" So what? Your mother is 4 years younger than your father, and they got married."
" That's different. They love each other."
" How do you know that it won't be the same with Ileana and Alexei?"
" Because, back at the ball, while you were stuffing yourself with cookies, I watched my brother almost dying of boredom in her company."
" First of all, It was a diversion and I ate bearly one cookie. Second, really?!"
" Yup. I think he wanted to ask you to dance... But then, the fire..."
" Oh..."
" So maybe... There's a chance for you two?" Maria smiled, Giving [Y/N] a side hug.
" If during the next month, in some unexplainable way, I'll become a princess, then I'll believe it."
" OK. Deal." Anastasia said seriously and reached out her hand for [Y/N] to shake.
" You're impossible..." The girl laughed, but shook Nastya's hand.
