Third Person POV
The court was full, but few people had to be thrown out of there, because they showed disrespect to the accused.
" Right now, we'll hear out the witness , but also second injured party, Mrs. Mitsuki Takagawa." The judge announced and the woman stood up.
"As an injured party in this case, you have a right to remain silent and don't give testimony. What is your decision?"
" I'll be giving a testimony."
" Your duty is to speak the truth. Giving a false testimony is a crime. Do you understand?"
" Yes, Your Honor."
" So what is your knowledge about the case?"
" I was kidnapped a day before [Y/N]..."
" I suppose you mean the first injured party, Mrs [Y/N] Andrieyevna Romanova?"
" Prececly. Your Honor... I haven't been treated even half as badly as her..."
"What do you mean?"
" We've been held captived for more than half of a year... But Mr Vaganov wouldn't leave her be... As if it wasn't enough to starve both of us and make us.. Fulfill our philological needs into wooden bucket..." She took a deep breath and looked at [Y/N] pitifully and apologetically. " I have to say about it." She whispered.
" Mrs. Takagawa? What do you have to say?" The judge asked. Japanese woman took a deep breath. " Your Honor, I was a witness to... Multiple sexual asults towards [Y/N] from Mr Vaganov." As she said those words, the public gasped. [Y/N] who was sitting behind, covered her face with her hands in shame. Alexei stood from his place. " YOU..." He glared at Gleb, but the judge cut in. " Mr. auxiliary prosecutor, I reminded you, hold your emotions down." The judge spoke, then turned to Mitsuki again.
" Are you aware if there happened any sexual intercourse?
" No, Your Honor. There was none. [Y/N] was pregnant at the time and it could harm the child. Not to mention she would never agree to that... But Mr. Vaganov didn't seem to care about her opinion..."
" Had he forced Mrs Romanova into anything?"
" No. Well, in fact, he tried, however, I attempted to stop him."
" How exactly?"
" I'm a midwife. Mr. Vaganov knew about it. I think he thought me as some kind of a doctor, so I decided to use that against him.
" And what did you do?"
" I lied that [Y/N] has an venereal disease and he could catch it, if he tries to do something.... But unfortunately, I couldn't stop everything he was doing..."
" You mean sexual asults..." The judge concluded and she nodded. " He would force kisses... Ripping off her clothes...I..." Mitsuki's voice began to shake. " I even once saw him tiing her to the floor..."
" Please...!" [Y/N] cried out, not wanting any further memories from this time to come back to her head.
" You may sit down." The judge nodded to Mitsuki. " Mrs Romanova, please stand up." She obeyed, still keeping her head down as the question was asked. " Is it true, what Mrs Takagawa said?"
" Yes, Your Honor. It is entirely true."
Nicholas and Alexandra looked at each other in disbelief. Actually, everyone was shocked. " You may sit down..."Even the judge seemed to be surprised. " And now, let us hear out the next witness..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
" Thank you, Mr defender." The judge nodded towards the man who has finished his speech. " Is there anything,accused would like to say?
" I don't regret it anything. I haven't done anything wrong." Gleb spoke calmly, then sat back down.
" Mr auxiliary prosecutor ?" Alexei stood up." All I care about is my family's safety. I don't want it to be in danger. That's all I'm asking for." He sat back down as the judge turned to Mitsuki and [Y/N]." Injured party?" The Japanese woman stood up straight. " This man deserves to be justly punished. That's what I'm asking for. "
" Mrs Romanova...?" The judge's voice was slightly softer and more sympathetic. [Y/N] stood up with slight difficulty, because she was trambling. She took a deep breath, trying to control her shakily voice." I" She stammered. " I just want to come back home... To my children..." She heavily sat back down as Mitsuki hugged her.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
" Gleb Ivanovich Vaganov, by the court of Russian Empire is considered guilty of all the deeds he's been accused for , therefore, he's sentenced to life imprisonment." After the judgment was announced, the judge added in his final speech, that the only reason, why Gleb wasn't sentenced to death was because that kind of punishment was banned by Russian Empire's First Construction.
However, he didn't live on for much longer after coming back to jail... After hearing what he's there, the men he was sharing the cell with, began to abuse him. Believe it, or not, but some of those man had children that they couldn't take care of, so the kids would often end up in orphanages. The same that [Y/N] was visiting... Unbelievably, even the criminals were thankful to the young woman, because, she was giving their children what they couldn't give. Warmth and love... They had literally nothing to lose anymore, so when the news about [Y/N] getting kidnapped got to them, they've promised themselves that if they'll ever get this bastard into their hands, they're going to show him. Maybe it was intentional to make him share the cell specifically with those people, or maybe it was just a coincidence and a terrible bad luck?No one will ever know. Either way, all the other prisoners kept their promise to show him...
Gleb Vaganov has been beaten to death by his fellow prisoners and died at 9 p. m., at the day of February 3rd, 1928, not even two weeks after being sentenced....
It was a great relief for the Romanov family and actually the whole city. Now, they could be sure that no one will do any harm.
Thanks to support of her friends and family, [Y/N]'s mental health was getting better, even though she knew the trauma may not disappear in years...
But she had her parents in-law, her sisters-in-law, her siblings, loving husband, wonderful children and loyal friends.
She was afraid that after what was brought up at the court hearing, people may lose respect for her. It was quite opposite and actually the only one who'd lost, appearently respect from everyone in the city, was Gleb. The only person who'd sometimes clean up his grave or say a prayer for his soul, was Yana, however every time she had to go and do this, she'd firstly go to the confession, for she wasn't able to get rid of the feeling of hatred towards Gleb... As a servant of the Lord, she had to learn to forgive, but when it comes to that man, she found it highly impossible...He has been hurting [Y/N]! [Y/N], who would never hurt a single soul! Why was he doing this?! Why?!
The truth was that Yana said a prayer for Vaganov, by [Y/N]'s request. Tsarevich's wife admitted, she couldn't yet forgive and there's a possibility she'll never be able to, but she wanted for his soul to find peace and rest. She was convinced that Gleb was mentally ill person and somehow, even though part of her refused to accept that, she knew that he wasn't completely aware of his actions.
Yana couldn't believe how merciful her sister was, after all that she's been through... [Y/N] however, didn't think of herself this way, in her opinion, there was no mercy without forgiveness and she wasn't able to forgive yet...
