MK was jolted awake by loud noises echoing through the stillness of the night. Rubbing his eyes, he glanced out the window at the deep purple sky dotted with countless stars. As he gazed at the night sky, something unusual caught his eye—a red streak of light, like a shooting star, blazing across the heavens. Its trajectory aimed toward the distant mountains of Shadowfen, named after the shadowy creature that had once saved the first settlers of the town.

Curiosity piqued, MK quietly slipped out of bed, careful not to wake anyone else. He tiptoed through the house and out into the cool night air. The town was silent, its residents fast asleep, unaware of the strange event unfolding in the skies above. MK made his way through the town, his footsteps light on the cobblestone streets, and began the climb up the mountains.

When he reached the summit, he saw it—a red escape pod, half-buried in the rocky terrain. MK approached cautiously, stopping a few feet away when the door of the pod suddenly hissed open. From within, a figure emerged—red hair, light red skin, an outfit adorned with diamonds, a fire-shaped gem embedded in his forehead, and two horns atop his head. The new gem’s eyes widened in surprise as they locked onto MK.

“WHAT THE HELL? WHO ARE YOU?” the red gem shouted, his hands instantly igniting to form a flaming axe.

MK took a step back, wary of the seemingly dangerous stranger. “No, you explain yourself!” MK retorted, keeping his distance from the clearly unstable gem.

The red gem seemed to hesitate, the flames of his axe flickering before extinguishing altogether. “No… who are you? How did you survive? Just tell me who you are, and I’ll tell you who I am,” the red gem said, his tone softer but still guarded.

MK considered for a moment before deciding to be honest. “Okay, my name is MK. My gem is an Ocean Jasper,” he said, taking a cautious step closer.

The red gem’s expression shifted to one of pride as he introduced himself. “I am the great Red Son, the new Red Diamond, destined to take over my parents’ throne,” Red Son declared, his red hair dazzling as he flipped it dramatically.

MK’s eyes widened in surprise. “Oh, you’re a Diamond?” he asked, now even more intrigued as he inched closer, studying Red Son.

“Yes, I am. And you are an Angel Aura,” Red Son said confidently, only to be met with MK’s confused expression.

“No, I’m not. I’m an Ocean Jasper,” MK corrected, still puzzled by the encounter.

Red Son furrowed his brow, clearly frustrated. “No… you’re a Fluorite. No, that can’t be right. I know your gem, but you’re not an Ocean Jasper,” Red Son muttered, bringing up a holographic display that flickered with different images of gems.

Deciding to extend some hospitality, MK offered, “Do you need a place to stay? You can stay with us.”

Red Son looked shocked at the invitation. “There are… more gems?” he asked, lowering the hologram.

“Yeah, come on, follow me,” MK said, leading Red Son down the mountain and back to his home.

When they arrived, Pigsy was in the kitchen, busy making French toast. MK burst through the door, startling everyone. “PIGSY, I MADE A FRIEND!” MK shouted excitedly.

Both Tang and Pigsy turned to see Red Son standing in the doorway. Instantly, Tang grabbed Pigsy’s arm, and they fused into Bloodstone, ready to attack. But before Bloodstone could strike, MK stepped in between them. “No, he’s my friend! His name is Red Son,” MK said, trying to calm Bloodstone down.

Bloodstone glared at Red Son, his stance still tense. “MK, HE’S A DIAMOND! HE WILL SHATTER US!” Bloodstone warned as he defused back into Tang and Pigsy.

MK’s expression darkened, his usual cheerfulness fading as his voice dropped to a deep, serious tone. “No, he won’t. And besides, if he tries, I’m the one he’ll have to worry about,” MK said, his eyes glowing ominously as he glared at Red Son.

Then, just as quickly as it had come, MK’s dark mood vanished, replaced by his usual bright smile. “But still, let’s welcome him here,” he said cheerfully, throwing an arm around Red Son.

As they were speaking, Mei stumbled down the stairs, rubbing sleep from her eyes. “Why are you guys so loud?” she mumbled, only to stop short when she saw Red Son.

“Oh, Mei, meet Red Son!” MK said, picking up the red diamond and setting him down in front of a now-blushing Mei.

Mei stammered, “Oh, hi… my name is Mei. Oh, I gotta get home before I get… texts.” She quickly backed away, slamming her head into the door before making her hasty exit.
