Mk had been doing a great job pretending that everything was fine. Today was Tuesday, his designated day to relax, but his mind was preoccupied with a persistent worry—how was he going to change Red Son's mind? Mk wanted Red Son to be good, to abandon any intentions of shattering his friends. After a long time of pondering in the living room, while overhearing Pigsy and Tang's conversation, Mk suddenly remembered the lighthouse where he and Red Son had been before they decided to fuse together.

"Hey, Pigsy, I’m going to head into the woods near the town," Mk said as he got up, breaking away from his thoughts.

"Sure, kid, but remember to be back before dinner," Pigsy replied, glancing at Mk briefly before returning his attention to Tang.

Mk left the house and made his way towards the forbidden forest. As he passed through the town, he noticed Mei hanging out with the Cool Kids. Mk had tried to fit in with them once when Mei first started hanging out with them at 11, and they were 17. But Mk quickly realized he wasn't welcome, so he stopped trying.

As Mk walked past them, Mei jumped up. "HEY MK!" she shouted, running toward him with the Cool Kids trailing behind.

"Oh, hey Mei," Mk responded, his eyes flicking towards the other people walking around.

"Where are you going in such a hurry?" Kil asked, all the Cool Kids wearing fake smiles.

"I'm just going for a walk, you know," Mk said as Mei jumped with enthusiasm.

"Oh, we can join you!" Mei suggested, bouncing up and down, but Mk put his hand out in front of her.

"Sorry, Mei, but I want to be alone—like, really alone. No offense, but I haven’t had a day to myself in months," Mk said. Mei's excitement faded, and she looked a bit hurt, scratching her arm while Rer, one of the Cool Kids, looked irritated.

"Hey, maybe you shouldn't make her cry. Be grateful we were going to hang out with you to make Mei feel better. You should be a better friend—she’s a child, and you’re a freak," Rer said loudly. Mei looked away as Mk just stared at him.

"I don’t have time for you," Mk said before turning back towards the forest and continuing his walk, ignoring Rer’s continued insults.

Finally, after walking through the beautiful, dense forest, Mk reached the lighthouse. The structure looked just as it had before, with the secret hideout entrance opening to Mk's touch. Mk entered, and the entrance sealed behind him, leaving him alone in the dim, familiar space.

With a sigh, Mk retrieved the purple bubble from his gem, popping it carefully. He caught the gem that emerged just before it hit the ground—a Fire Shaped Red Diamond that felt hot, almost like it was on fire. Mk gently placed it on the ground before sitting down in front of it.

An hour passed before the gem glowed red and floated up, revealing Red Son. His new form was different—his hair was now styled into a fiery ponytail, and he wore a red robe over what looked like a black turtleneck tank top. The robe still had many tiny gems adorning its collar.

"What the—Mk, what happened?" Red Son demanded, clearly angry and confused.

"Alright, just calm down and sit," Mk said, patting a spot next to him. Reluctantly, Red Son sat down.

Mk spent the next couple of hours explaining everything to Red Son. "Mk, let me go. I have to get rid of Wukong," Red Son commanded as he stood up. But Mk quickly grabbed him in a tight bear hug.

"I can’t let you do that, Red Son," Mk replied. Red Son, furious, pulled out his fire ax from his gem and swung it, forcing Mk to release him.

Red Son attempted to use the hand scanner to leave, but it rejected him. "Mk, what did you do? My scanner doesn’t work!" Red Son yelled, swinging his ax again, but this time Mk caught his hand, swinging Red Son over his head and slamming the diamond into the ground.

"Red Son, I didn’t do anything, but I won’t sit back and watch you hurt the people I love," Mk said, determined to protect his family.

Red Son’s ax turned to smoke and disappeared as his hair ignited with flames. He grabbed Mk’s hand with enough force to pull Mk to the ground, pinning him down before Mk could react.

"MK, I WANT TO GO HOME!" Red Son yelled, his hair blazing as he used all his strength to keep Mk pinned.

"I’m not stopping you from going home," Mk said, struggling to push Red Son off. He almost succeeded, but Red Son grabbed Mk’s hands and pinned them above his head.

"I can’t. Your friends and that stupid Sunstone won’t let me or my family return home," Red Son said angrily.

"How about we make a deal?" Mk asked, kicking his legs in an attempt to free himself. Red Son seemed interested, so he transferred both of Mk’s hands to one of his, pinning them above Mk’s head.

"Keep going," Red Son said, motioning with his free hand for Mk to continue.

"I’ll help you. I’ll get back the proofed gems of your parents and help you leave Earth in any way I can. But you have to promise not to hurt anyone on Earth and stay here in the hideout to help me protect my family until you leave," Mk proposed.

Red Son looked confused. "Do you already have my parents?" he asked.

"No, but they won’t listen to me, and they’ll be fighting Monkey King more than I will," Mk replied.

Red Son thought about it for a few minutes, his hair extinguishing as he sighed. He released Mk’s hands, sat up, and moved his face away from Mk’s.

"Fine, you have a deal," Red Son said, extending his hand. Mk sat up and shook Red Son’s hand.

Mk made sure the secret hideout was securely locked before leaving the lighthouse. As he walked through the forbidden forest, he heard chattering but paid no attention to it until—

"MK, THERE YOU ARE!" Bob, one of the Cool Kids, yelled as he ran up to the confused ametrine.

"What’s going on?" Mk asked, noticing the urgency in Bob's voice.

"It’s Mei—she’s in trouble," Bob said, and Mk’s eyes widened.

"Where?" was all Mk could say as his normal set of eyes turned gold and the smaller set above them turned purple.
