MK had settled into his bed, the weight of the day finally catching up to him. Mei, his younger sister, had made herself comfortable on a makeshift bed of covers and pillows on the floor beside him. As she burrowed under a blanket, she glanced up at the sound of footsteps.

“Mei, are you staying the night?” Tang asked, poking his head into MK's bedroom as he climbed the stairs.

“Yeah. Hey, can you tell us a story, Tang?” Mei asked, her voice muffled by the blanket she was wrapping herself in.

“Yeah! Mister Tang, can you tell us the story of the Monkey King?” MK chimed in, lowering the volume on the TV to hear Tang better.

Tang sighed, a fond smile on his face. “Alright, but let me grab the chart Qi gave me, so you can better understand the roles. Remember, this chart is over 10,000 years old.”

Tang left briefly and returned with an old, worn chart that seemed to carry the weight of history itself. He carefully spread it out on MK's desk, smoothing out the edges.

“This system ranks beings from the most powerful to the least powerful. If you see specific names on the list, it means those individuals, not just their gemstones, hold those positions,” Tang explained as he pointed to various parts of the chart.

The chart read as follows:

**(Jade Emperor)**
- **Lonsdaleite**

**(Celestials)**
- Diamonds, Sun Wukong, Macaque, Azura, Yellow Tusk, Peng, Tang Sanzang, Ao Lie, Zhu Bajie, Sha Wujin

**(Dragons)**
- The Dragon of the East, the Dragon of the West, the Dragon of the South, the Dragon of the North

**(Court of the Celestials)**
- Pearls, Sapphire, Ruby, Garnets, All of Quartz, Amethyst, Lapis Lazuli, Peridots

**(Normal People)**
- All the rest of the gems, unnamed

As Tang recounted the ancient tales, Mei’s eyes grew heavy, and she drifted off to sleep within the first hour. MK, however, remained wide awake, fascinated by the stories of old.

After finishing the last tale, MK looked at Tang with curiosity. “Hey, Tang, where was the Monkey King last seen?”

Tang paused, considering his words. “Hmm, some texts I’ve gathered say that the Monkey King battled the Diamond Bull King. After defeating him, he bubbled him and sent him somewhere unknown. Then, the Monkey King summoned a ship and escaped to a different galaxy, far, far away.”

Tang began packing up the chart, his expression thoughtful. “Alright, well, good night, MK,” he said as he left the room, carrying the chart under his arm.

MK nodded, his mind still lingering on the stories as he drifted off to sleep, wondering what other secrets the past held.
