MK had spent the rest of the day on edge, still rattled from his encounter with the giant spider woman. "Oh, come on, bud. It wasn't that bad," Wukong said in his usual cocky tone, though he sounded unsure near the end. "Besides, I doubt Ne Zha is going to send any more gems here... probably."MK shot Wukong an incredulous look, his nerves still buzzing. "Look, I get that, but IT WAS A GIANT SPIDER WOMAN!" he yelled, his voice rising in frustration. Wukong raised an eyebrow, about to retort when his shadow suddenly stretched out across the floor. The outline of Macaque's face appeared within it, glowing with purple lines.
"Oh, Wukong," Macaque's voice purred as he stepped out from the shadow. "You're so bad with kids." His shadow melted back into its original shape as he fully emerged.
"Pfft, like you're any better," Wukong shot back, rolling his eyes.
Macaque grinned, his eyes gleaming mischievously. "I am better, because I don’t act like one." He playfully booped Wukong on the nose, and Wukong instantly looked irritated.
"Hey now, you do not get to say that about me!" Wukong's voice had an edge to it, and the tension between the two gems grew thick.
MK, sensing the rising hostility, cautiously raised his hand. "Uh, should I... leave?"
"No!" Wukong said.
"Yes!" Macaque countered at the same time.
MK blinked, caught between the two. But before the argument could escalate further, MK’s phone rang, its screen flashing with Mei’s name. Her familiar ringtone cut through the awkwardness.
"Hey, Mei, what’s up?" MK answered, trying to sound casual.
"Uh, we need your help... like, now," Mei said, her voice shaky.
"What’s wrong?" MK asked, his concern growing. But before he could get more details, Macaque’s shadow stretched out toward him again. In an instant, MK felt himself falling through it and landed—disoriented—back on the mainland, in the middle of the base.
He stood up, looking around the town until he spotted Mei hiding in a nearby bush. She grabbed his wrist and pulled him down next to her.
"Mei, what’s going on?" MK whispered.
Mei, looking tense, shushed him and pointed toward a group of three figures up ahead. "They’re gems—ones that’ve caused over 5,000 dollars in property damage."
MK peeked through the leaves, his eyes narrowing as he observed the trio. The smallest of them had mechanical spider legs sprouting from his back, along with normal legs. His purple skin and green hair stood out, and there was a spider web Jasper on his forehead. He wore a lab coat, and his sharp voice cut through the air as he berated the others.
"How can you be so incompetent, Huntsman?!" the smaller gem yelled, jabbing a finger into the chest of the medium-sized one.
The medium gem, Huntsman, scowled. He had light purple skin, gray hair tied into a braid, and his gem sat where his nose should have been. "I *am* doing my job, Synix," Huntsman growled in frustration. "I specialize in hunting *organics*. How am I supposed to track a gem I know nothing about?"
The biggest of the trio had spider legs for legs and was immensely buff, with black hair and darker purple skin. His gem was embedded in his chest. "Hey, guys, let's not fight—"
"BIG FELLA, SHUT UP!" Synix and Huntsman yelled in unison, cutting him off.
MK and Mei exchanged glances. "Should we—" MK began, but Mei had already drawn her dragon blade from her gem.
Before MK could stop her, Mei had boldly stepped out from the bushes and approached the group. "Hey, big boys!" she called out. "Who are y’all looking for?"
The three gems turned toward her, their eyes locking onto her gem. The color drained from their faces, and they looked visibly alarmed.
"Holy— that’s... the lost Jade Dragon... the Prince of the West, Ao Lie!" Huntsman blurted out, his voice trembling. "Forget the mission, we need to bring the Jade Dragon back!"
Synix turned to him, frowning. "No, we need to stay focused!"
Huntsman wasn’t having it. "The Jade Dragons are top priority!"
Mei blinked in confusion, her mind racing to process what they were saying. Before she could react, Big Fella loomed over her, his massive fist raised, ready to strike.
"MEI!" MK shouted, leaping in front of her just in time. He summoned his hammer, blocking the incoming punch. Big Fella staggered back, clearly surprised by MK’s strength.
"What the—" Big Fella muttered, only for MK to swing his hammer again, sending him flying.
Seeing their comrade thrown back, Synix's expression darkened. "RETREAT!" he ordered, and the three gems turned tail and ran.
"Are you okay?" MK asked, turning to Mei, who was already pouting.
"I *wanted* to fight them," she grumbled, disappointed.
MK sighed, shaking his head.

The trio of Spider Web Jaspers hurried back to their spaceship, which was shaped like a massive spider. Synix quickly entered the password on the door panel, and they all rushed inside as the door slid shut behind them.
Inside, the Spider Queen turned to face them, her anger barely contained. "What are you three doing back here so soon?"
Synix immediately bowed. "My Queen, we have—"
Huntsman shoved him aside and stepped forward. "My Queen, we have urgent news. We found the Jade Dragon Prince of the West—Ao Lie."
The Spider Queen’s eyes went wide. "What is it with gems these days? Did *everyone* fake their shattering?" She sighed, rubbing her temple.
Huntsman looked away, clearly avoiding her gaze. "I’ll report our findings to the Third Lotus Emerald and ask for further orders," Spider Queen said, turning toward a glowing console.
Her fingers danced over the controls, sending a silent message to someone far away, her mind already plotting the next move.
