Chapter 1 New Start (Rewrite)

It had been 100 years since Ocean Jasper had seen his friends, who were lost in the Battle of Dragons. The battle was sparked by Sun Wukung, who led a revolution against the Jade Emperor of the gems. The Emperor's new leaders, the Jade Dragons of the North, South, and East, shattered the others. The Jade Horse-Dragon and the Prince of the West joined the revolution, but now the entire rebellion was gone—except for Ocean Jasper, who needed to wait for them to re-emerge from the earth. But what was stopping Ocean Jasper from reforming?

He began writing down his life in a book, leaving out parts of his past. He made books for each of his friends so they could remember, but what if they wanted to forget? He hid the books and waited for the gems: a White Pearl, Pink Spinel, Blue Lapis Lazuli, and the Green Jade Dragon of the West. Ocean Jasper knew he would have to wait until he could reform, and then he would need to teach his friends anew.

A week later, the Pearl finally reformed, now with black hair, black eyes, and a robe of red and white, with the pearl on his forehead. The Pearl looked confused, and Ocean Jasper spoke for the first time in years. "Hello, I am... Qi Xiaotian. Your name is Tang, the White Pearl of Sun Wukung, the Sunstone. You have the powers of shields and healing."

The Pearl looked around, disoriented. "I can't see very well, Qi Xiaotian," Tang said as he got up and bumped into a wall.

"Call me Qi," Ocean Jasper replied. "And here, these are called glasses. Now, all we have to do is wait for our other friends to reform."

The two talked, and every few hours, another gem would reform. The Pink Spinel was the second, given the name Pigsy and the power of food. The next to wake was the Blue Lapis Lazuli, who was given the name Sandy and the power of water. But there was a difference between the Jade and the others—the Jade was shattered, and it would be another 900 years before it reformed. And when it did, it would not be the same person.

140 years later, Ocean Jasper decided it was time to reform, to become anew. He had taught the others everything he knew, and it would be another 1,000 years until he would return, with his new name: Monkie Kid.
