Chapter 23
I blinked and rubbed out my eyes again. It had just been an illusion. Caleb got up and walked over to me. He crouched down and tried to brush away the tears I had shed in my panic. I hit his arm away, and he tried to wrap his arms around me, but I edged away from him. What if he was actually Luke with a glamor or something to make me think it was Caleb?
"Cat what's wrong?" He tried to lift up my chin so that he could look into my eyes, but I pulled away. I scrambled up, and grabbed my wand off my nightstand.
"A...a...are y...you o...or a...a...are y...you not L...Luke?!" My voice shook as I stuttered. My hand shook as I pointed my wand at his face. I watched as he put his hands up.
"Cat put the wand down. Besides you can't use it out of school, you'll get expelled." He tried to take a step towards me, and I gripped the wood harder.
"That," My voice continued to shake uncontrollably, "is where you are wrong. The borders of Camp keep out any signal, therefore making me able to use my magic without the Ministry finding out. Finite Incantatum." Professor Flitwick had taught us the spell so that we could undo any spells, we would need it as demigods. Nothing happened except some sparks coming out of my wand. I concentrated and tried to pull the mist away from him. When I looked back at him, he was still Caleb. I immediately relaxed and hugged him.
"Cat, what happened?" He stroked my hair as I leaned into his chest, trying to keep from dissolving into hysterics.
"It was Luke. For a moment there I thought you were him, and I was afraid. I was afraid that Luke had taken you and was disguised as you or something. Oh Cal I was so scared."
"Shhhhh.... It will be okay, everything will be okay."
"How can it when Luke is out there trying to turn the four of us and Jacob is alone, Kevin disappeared, and Xavier is out there potentially being hunted by Luke? Thalia's tree is dying, and the borders are beginning to fail, the camp is falling apart, Chiron is gone, Raven is probably terrified because she almost was killed by a Cyclopes when we met, and now one is staying here like a fellow camper. Oh Cal, how can it ever even be okay? Will it ever be alright?"
"Everything will turn out. Alright?"
"Alright." (Fault in our Stars much? Idk.) Caleb pulled away and wiped a tear from my face.
"It will be alright I promise. Alright?"
"Alright."
"Alright."
"Cal stop saying alright!"
"Alright."
You're impossible!"
"Alright." He was grinning down at me and I slapped his chest."
"Cal stop saying alright!"
"Alright."
You're impossible!"
"Alright." He was grinning down at me and I slapped his chest. He just laughed as I tried to shove him over, emphasis on tried. He finally let me out of his grasp, and I pointed at the door.
"Out."
"Why?"
"I kinda need to change Cal."
"Why can't I stay?" He pouted, and I tried not to laugh.
"Because we may be close enough to be siblings, but we are not. So leave."
"No."
"If I say alright will you leave?"
"Maybe?"
"Alright?"
"Alright." He groaned and walked out of my room, dragging his feet. Once the door closed, I twirled to my closet and pulled the doors open. Time to get ready and make a good first impression. I smiled. Today was going to be one eventful day.
