Chapter 49
*~* I am changing McCoy/Aiden Potter to Cody Potter, so bear with me if there are mistakes between the names. *~*
"This year I have decided to change part of my lesson plans for all years. We will be focusing on plants that heal major and minor wounds. You will find that many other classes have chosen to adapt their class due to the currents events unfolding. Now today we will be working with..." She went on and on, while I was smiling inside. Healing was one of the things I was best at in the demigod world. If I could incorporate healing methods from the wizarding world in the demigod world, then I could possibly find new healing methods that could work miracles. We did not work on much that class due to all of the talking from the Professor.
"So, watcha think Gym is?" I was sitting next to Caleb in transfiguration, and Professor McGonagall was letting us talk since anywhere else we could not.
"I don't have it until tomorrow. How was Herbology?"
"It was normal. We are focusing on healing this year." I sighed in boredom.
"Great, I was hoping we would be battling some plants this year, I have Herbology last block today."
"Your homework for class exactly a week from now will be a twenty inch essay on the importance of wand movement in transfiguration." Professor McGonagall spoke up from where she had been correcting some Gryffindors on their wand movements. We were supposed to be practicing wand movements for two different spells, though we were not informed of what spells they were for. The bell rang through the school, and Caleb and I got up to head to the library for our break.
"Next thing you know," he laughed as the two of us headed on our own. "We will be forbidden to even speak at all."
"You are in fact forbidden from speaking unless you are in your common rooms or in a class where the professor gives you permission to speak. And you cannot be in the halls unless you are in a large group escorted by a teacher. You both now have a detention the next break after you have had your lunch. Report to the DADA classroom by the bell, if you are late, you will be issued an additional detention. Who are you two and what year are you anyways?" The new male professor came right around a corner to face us
"I am Caleb Hansen, Gryffindor second year, and this is Catherine Granger, Ravenclaw second year."
"Granger? Are you by chance related in any way to Ms. Hermione Jean Granger of Gryffindor house, currently wanted for questioning on her mudblood self?"
"I am related to her sir. But I am a half-blood, maybe even a pureblood, but I know not of my mother. My father is a pureblood."
"Very good. Run along to where ever you are supposed to be, and hurry." He shooed us away, and run we did. Thankfully we did not run into anymore professors on the way, and reached the library just before a large group of second year Gryffindors and Ravenclaws came, led by Professor Sprout. Caleb and I found a spot in the very back of the library where shelves hid the table from the view of others. Five minutes in, and I was done with five inches of my essay. Caleb's essay, his handwriting being slightly larger, was six inches already. It was deadly silent when a movement made me jump out of my skin.
It was only Alisa, thankfully, as she sat down next to me. I shared my notes with her to help her gain some ground on her essay. The bell rang yet again, and the three of us all shoved our things in our bags. I was careful to shrink everything to make the load lighter. I pumped my fist in the air as we walked to the entrance of the library, and whispered a chant for food. I guess even in the darkest of times, I will never cease to be crazy. Professor Sprout was there to escort all of the Ravenclaw and Gryffindor second years down for our lunch for our breaks. When we reached the great hall, I realized that the girl and boy that had been with Ginny at Flourish and Blotts were on their lunch break as well.
"This is where we part Cat. I don't think that the new professors would take kindly to a Ravenclaw sitting at the Gryffindor table. Do you even have any Ravenclaw friends?" Caleb spoke in a whisper as to not disrupt the silence that covered the entire hall. I shook my head and headed to my table where I sat a few places away from Cody Potter and Christian Weasley. The Great Hall was silent the entire block, and once I was finished with my meal I pulled out a book to study from for Astronomy, which I had last block today. A few minutes before the bell was due to ring, I shrunk and packed away my book before taking out my schedule. I had Gym next with the Hufflepuffs.
As soon as I heard the first toll of the bell I took off towards the door where the second year Ravenclaws were assembling. Professor Hooch came by to take us down to the Quidditch Pitch with the Hufflepuffs. When we got there, I saw multiple brooms waiting. My mind froze as I stopped walking as started to hyperventilate.
Kevin and Zack immediately stopped. "Cathy, are you okay? Is something wrong?" They followed my gaze to the brooms, and it dawned on them. "You are scared of heights, aren't you?" I felt myself nod as Professor Hooch impatiently yelled for us to catch up. Zach and Kevin wasted no time in pulling me towards the others. Hooch told everyone to get up in the air and to group up before we did anything. I mounted a school broom before taking a deep breathe. There is no way I can do this.
