Chapter 33

The shadows melted away as we appeared right in the shadows of a forest. A familiar house sat in front of me, and my mouth fell open.

"No way..." There, sitting in front of me, was the same house I had stayed in during my time at Deerfield. Caleb collapsed next to me, and his breath was ragged. His dull eyes looked up at me, and his voice came out scratchy.

"Cathy," He had to keep pausing for breath, "I don't have enough energy to make it anywhere. You will have to leave me."

I sat down next to him, and grasped his hand in both of mine. "Caleb, I will not leave you. The moment we leave, monsters would immediately destroy you. I know a place near here where we can stay for a few hours while you get some of your energy back. Besides, there is nothing that is making us get back to Camp until August." I turned to Zach. "Help me carry him into the forest. I don't know why, but somehow we were pulled off course. Like really off course. Wisconsin is farther from Florida than New York is."

I took one of Caleb's arms, and Zach took the other. Together, we carried Caleb to the same clearing I had previously fought Victoria and James. I was able to get a tent from my charms, but mentally slapped myself for not getting at least two tents as we lay Caleb down on the left sleeping bag. Zach sat on the middle sleeping bag, and I sat on the right one. We just talked for about two hours, and shortly before Zach's watch struck three, Caleb woke up. A few minutes later, we all packed up, and walked to the interstate. We got there one and a half hours later, and started to follow it to Milwaukee.

< Third POV > < Camp Half-blood >

Clarisse walked down the hill away from Thalia's tree. She had just draped the Fleece over the branches, and Percy and Annabeth had come back to Camp with the Party Ponies. She soon found herself in front of the Hera cabin. When she entered the cabin, she walked straight back to Cathy's room. Her vision started clouding up, and she was having trouble seeing. Her hands went up to her eyes, and tears started pouring out. Everyone thought Clarisse was tough, and vicious, but the truth was, if one of her friends got hurt, she was as weak as an Aphrodite girl the second she was alone. The life of a demigod was short, but Cathy and Caleb's lives should not have been as short as to end from crashing into a boat. Clarisse felt as if it were her fault that they died, it was her boat they had been killed by after all.

Annabeth walked down the hill after she had seen Clarisse walk away. Down by the cabins she had watched Clarisse enter the Hera cabin, so Annabeth followed. Once she got to the door of the Hera cabin, Annabeth hesitated at the door. Why would Clarisse go to the Hera cabin, of any, she thought. Annabeth walked in the door, and followed the sounds of muffled cries behind Cathy's door.

<Cathy's POV>

I woke up at six am according to Zach's watch. The boys both were not wearing shirts, because it had been so hot last night when we had finally settled down to rest. The air around us was warm, and the sun shone down on our tent. I crawled out of the text flaps, and sat, leaning against one of the many trees near our tent. The sun rose farther and farther up in the sky, and soon Caleb was climbing out of the tent fully clothed. I drew my throwing knives out as a rather small hellhound snuck up behind him. Suddenly a silver arrow came whizzing out of nowhere, and sailed right through the monster, then piercing the tent. Zach scrambled out with his hair a mess, and his shirt not even on as I turned to see where the arrow had come from.

A girl about thirteen with red curled hair streaming down her back came creeping out of the woods. Several other girls ranging from eleven to sixteen followed after, eyeing my male companions hatefully. A girl with a silver tiara like thing stepped out as I walked over to Zach and Caleb. The auburn haired girl stood next to the girl with the silver tiara facing us.

"This is my lieutenant Zoë Nightshade, and the rest of these girls are Hunters."

Zach stepped forward, "And who are you?"

Zoë stepped forward threateningly, before the auburn girl held her back with her hand. "The boy means no harm, he does not know of the gods." She turned to Zach, "I am Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt."

One of the hunters walked up to me as the boys and I were packing up. She ignored the guys, and stood in front of me as I started to take down my tent. I glared at her, and tried to go past her, but was unable to do so. I finally crossed my arms, and reluctantly stopped.

"Lady Artemis would like you to walk beside her when we start travelling." The girl whisked away immediately before I could ask any questions. I frowned, and continued to pack for our journey. Once the three of us were ready to leave, all of the hunters surrounded the boys like escorts. Artemis walked up to me as we began to travel.

"So," She started, "How do you like demigod life Catherine?"

I hesitated before answering, picking my words out carefully. "It is okay, I suppose... It could be better, and it could be worse, but that is the case with everything."

"But how do you like it with the difficulties of being a witch included?"

"It does add a little more strain, but at least the magic has its perks..."

"Would you like to join my hunters? I would have to find a way for you to get your Hogwarts education, but we can work around it."

I hesitated, unable to think for a moment. "Well..."

I am soooooooooooo sorry, but school has been complicating things, especially with the fact that I transferred to a new school... I am attempting to make chapters 1,000 words or more from now on so that they are closer to a normal chapter length...
