Chapter 44

We walked into Flourish and Blotts together, side by side four hours had passed, and I had learned that his family had moved from the Durmstrang area in order for him and his little sister to go to the same school.  His parents had also disproved of the way Durmstrang had treated the Dark Arts.  His mother had been a Black who had attended Beaubatons in her youth.  We walked in just as a tall, red-headed shape flew at me.  Just as she was about to hit me, Cody grabbed her.  It was a tall sixth year, with flame red hair, freckles, and warm brown eyes.  She gasped at us just as another boy with sandy, red-blond hair.  This new boy looked to be my age.  He turned around to snap at me before realizing there was a sixth year towering above us.  A black haired seventh year and a pale, blond haired sixth year came up behind the other sixth year.

"They look so much like Harry, Ron, and Hermione!"  The red head stage whispered to her male companion.

The blondie rolled her eyes, "They can hear you Ginny."  The male laughed, and the redhead huffed.

"So?  It's true!  The girl and the taller guy look so like Hermione and Harry it's uncanny!"

"Hello?" I waved my hands in front of their faces. "We can hear you loud and clear.  Are you Ginny Weasley?"  The redhead nodded. "Oh, then hello Auntie."  If possible, her face paled even further.  Her male friend looked positively confused, while her blond friend just stood there looking around aimlessly.  "I can only explain somewhere private."  I smiled, and the seventh year pulled the two sixth year girls away.  When I turned around to talk to the boy how had run into me earlier, I saw that he had disappeared.  Cody also had to leave, so I was left alone by myself.  I headed back to the Leaky Cauldron where mum and dad were waiting with an older man, a pair of twins, and the trio from Flourish and Blotts.

"Catherine," Dad walked over to me and led everyone up to our room.  Once we arrived, dad pulled me to face the rest of the group.  "Dad, Fred, George, Ginny, Neville, Luna, this is Catherine Granger, now Catherine Weasley, our newest addition to our family."

"Newest addition?  Granger?  Is she related to Hermione somehow?"  Fred looked around desperately for answers.

"No," dad started. "Catherine is pureblood, Hermione is a muggleborn.  Her parents were somehow obliviated, and I had rights to her, so we adopted her."

"Uh guys?" I started hesitantly. "Can you all keep a secret?"  They all looked at me, bewildered.

"Well," George started. "We are all ears!"  Everyone either groaned or rolled their eyed.

I took a deep breath. "Hermione Granger is my half-sister. She is pureblood, I am half-blood.  My family did not know who my mother was."  They all stood, silent as ever.  Not a joke was cracked, an eye blinked.  Their mouths hung agape, and no one seemed to know what to say.  Suddenly the door swung open with a bang and two cloaked figures stood behind Tom the owner.

"CATHERINE!"  The taller of the two figures flew at me with startling speed.  The other just strolled in.

Tom stuttered an apology. "They demanded that they see Ms. Granger.  I found no reason to decline."  The taller cloaked figure tackled me in a hug.

"I told you to write." His voice was muffled in my hair. "I told you to try and write every day, but you did not even write once."
