Chapter 31
A flicker of recognition appeared over Annabeth's face when she saw me, but it was gone as fast as it came.
"Well," C.C. exclaimed. "How fast a minute passes! What is your answer?" I watched from behind Reyna as everything unfolded. When Annabeth poured the gummy vitamins in the cage, I was surprised when Percy and six other men transformed from being Guinea Pigs. When Annabeth helped Percy up, she glanced at me, and her expression was one of betrayal. I gave her a pleading look before fleeing from the pirates chasing us.
A few hallways down, I was able to slip into a room unseen. A few minutes after the sound of footsteps faded, they came up again, but fewer. I poked my head out of the door, and saw two boys my age running down the hallway. I stepped out, and the taller one gave out a yell, and ran faster. Before I knew it, I was being enveloped by Caleb's warm arms, and metallic scent. His obsidian black eyes glittered with joy, and he grinned down at me with his pearly white teeth. When he finally let go, I turned to the other boy who was exactly my height with sandy blond hair and blue eyes. His was built like a stick.
"Who is your little friend?" I folded my arms over my chest.
Caleb shook his head, "We can deal with that later, first, let's get out of here." We all ran down the hallway with me leading. The moment we got outside, I stopped. It was total panic. I quietly led Caleb and the other boy around the building to the back to try and escape. Just as we were about to sneak around the building next to the dock, there was a slight crunching sound behind us.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" Oh Gods.
<Raven's POV>
I was walking down the path in the woods with Alisa and Hailey in front of me. Hailey was chatting endlessly. There was a little crashing sound in front of us, and behind us. A small sandy blond haired boy emerged from the brush in front of us, and the loud crashing sound behind us got closer and closer.
"I am Chris Rodriguez, and come with me if you want to live." He gestured for us to follow him back the way he came. I looked at Alisa, and she nodded. Hailey finally stopped talking for once, and we all took off.
<Cathy's POV>
I watched as the sandy haired boy, which I had learned his name was Zach, paced the floor. Reyna, who I had been surprised to have been captured along with her sister Hylla, gave my right hand a reassuring squeeze. Caleb was drawing something in the dust of the old wooden floors of the room we now resided in. The only light that came in was from the cracks in the door Hylla had left through, to hopefully persuade the pirates to let us off. It must have only been an hour since we got here, but it felt like days. Zach finally sat down across from me another hour later, and an hour after that, Hylla entered.
We all looked at her with hope, until she shook her head with dejection and sat down next to Zach. We had been sitting there for about another hour more, and night had finally fallen, when one of the pirate guys opened the door.
"All of you are wanted by some guy on deck." He stepped to the side to let us out, and I glanced at everyone in worry before leaving the room. Once we emerged from the boat, onto the top deck, I immediately wanted to turn back.
