A Rock & Roll Romance

Chapter Seven

"So Alex. How's your big event coming along?" Alice said from across the table. "Yeah it's going well, in fact it's hopefully got me a promotion!" He said sipping his glass of wine leaning back in his chair arrogantly. This news made Meghan's eyes widen, she hadn't heard anything about it. "Well that's impressive." Sheryl said smiling. "Yes hopefully it secured a move to the head offices too" "oh?" Sheryl said, "Where are they based?" "Boston." Alex said happily. This was all brand new information to his girlfriend who quietly sipped her wine beside him. Her eyes growing wider at every revelation. Johnny was at the end of the table rolling a cigarette and licking the paper. She looked over to him, just as he looked up at her. He could see from across the table how concerned she looked at the sudden news. He held up the newly rolled cigarette and she nodded. "Excuse me." She stood and grabbed her bag. Alex watched as his girl walked towards Johnny and then followed him out to the balcony.

He was too into gloating about his new job, to wonder what had upset her now so continued his conversation with the famous people sat around, if Alex could use his new connections to his advantage then he would, so he continued kissing up to them.

"Boston hey? I haven't spent a lot of time there but I shot a movie a few years back, it's a nice city." Johnny said offering her a straight cigarette from a pack in his back pocket, she eyed it and was confused as she had seen him repeatedly roll tobacco on many occasion. "Sometimes I need a quick hit and don't have time to roll but you look like you need it more." He said as he held up the lighter. She placed it between her lips and let him light it. She took a long drag before closing her eyes. "I've not smoked in a long time." She said clearing her throat. "It's like riding a bike." "An addictive bike." She smirked looking across the city. "So.. you must be excited about Boston?" Johnny asked once more. "As excited as one can be, baring in mind they only found out about two minutes ago." "Seriously?" Johnny said taking a long drag. "Yep..."  "That's rough." "Yep. I don't even know if I like Boston. I have no family anywhere near there." "You'll make friends." "IF I go.." "If?" "Well yeah he doesn't get to decide everything for me does he?" Meghan said taking a puff of the cigarette. "No, you're your own person doll." "Exactly, besides I might be needed on another incredible tour soon anyway!" She said giggling. "Ha. Yeah. If I hear of anything I'll let you know." Johnny was concerned. Surely if the couple were that much in love she would leave and give up anything for him wouldn't she? Or maybe that was just him when he was in love? He often gave it his all and then some. He didn't want to interfere though. "You could maybe get back into law though if you went to Boston?" "Yeah I guess. I just don't know if that's me anymore." Johnny smiled. "You're young. You'll find yourself." "Mr Depp.. I'm 29 soon to be 30, I'm not that young." "You're younger than me." "How old are you anyway?" "Ha, old enough but not old enough to be advising you. I've made mistakes but hopefully I've learnt from them." "Oh come on Johnny, you're not that old. Everyone still loves and adores you." "I'm 44." "Oh wow." "Wow as in you thought I was older?" "No as in you don't look 44." "Umm thanks I'll take it." "I'm trying to compliment you here!" Meghan said giggling dropping her cigarette and stubbing it out. "Thanks for the chat." "Thanks for joining me." "Anytime." "Is that a promise?" "You'll have to wait and see!" She said with a smile heading back inside.

As the pair re took their seats at the table, brandy and whiskey was handed out. A waiter began to put one in front of Meghan when Alex lent across and took it. "I better have yours darling. We all know what a lightweight you are." He said chuckling, making Tommy and Johnny's jaws drop open. Meghan half smiled as she looked up to the waiter and thanked him anyway for his efforts. "Actually, Megz has been holding her own when it comes to booze, on more than one occasion she's drank Tommy here under the table." Johnny said mainly into his glass of whiskey before hastily taking a sip. Alex's eyes widened. "Oh baby, you know you're not a massive drinker. Were you trying to act like one of the guys?" Meghan turned to her boyfriend, it seemed he wasn't completely over their little argument earlier and was being petty, before she could speak, Tommy sat up "Not act like us, she is one of us, she's thrown herself into the tour and we are very happy with her efforts." He raised his glass before Meghan smiled and grabbed her whiskey back raising hers towards him. "I'll say." Alex muttered before he swallowed visibly, before the table continued conversing.

Gina who was sat opposite Johnny and besides her husband watched as her pal kept a close eye on Meghan from afar. She saw how he got uncomfortable at her boyfriend putting her down and how whenever said boyfriend spoke he showed little interest. Eventually the dinner came to an end, and the group stood, all agreeing to reconvene in the hotel bar for drinks.

"So were you planning on telling me about YOUR relocation to Boston?" Meghan said tapping her foot as they waited outside the restaurant for another car. "Well there's hardly been time, if you hadn't of kicked off earlier maybe we could have discussed it like adults?" "Discussed it like adults? Discussing it like adults would mean we actually spoke about it rather than you deciding for both of us!" Meghan said in hushed tones. "We'll see you back there ok?" Gina said approaching putting an arm round Meghan. "Sure thing." The latter said smiling. "Will you be ok getting back Meghan?" Johnny asked sweetly as they headed off to his waiting SUV. "She'll be fine, she's with me." Alex said sternly making Johnny stand up straight. "No harm done pal. Just checking the lady is ok... I would have thought you of all people would appreciate that? Seeing as you seem to think she can't function without you by her side." "What did you just say to me?" Alex said stepping into Johnny's personal space. "You heard... we'll see you back at the hotel Meghan ok?" Johnny grabbed a cigarette, lit it and walked away leaving the woman to nod. "Why on earth would you square up to him like that??" Meghan exclaimed once Johnny was in his vehicle. "Did you not hear what he said to me?" Alex said throwing his arms in the air. "He was just checking we were ok. Jesus what's got into you?" She said in a huff as they climbed in the next car. "Nothing has gotten into me. I just don't like how you've changed so much to be around these people." "These people?" Meghan questioned as the car began to drive. "These people happen to be my family, and some of their closest friends." She said crossing her arms and looking out the window as they raced through the city.

Once back at the hotel, it seemed Alex was on a mission to drink everything and Meghan was doing all she could to avoid him. Instead choosing to spend her time with the women, Gina, Sheryl, Billie and Sandra. "Oh god look at this!" Gina said looking up from her phone and holding it out. There was a headline with a photograph of Johnny and Meghan sat in the car together.

The mystery brunette has been spotted at all 14 shows so far on the European run of the supergroup's tour. Sources claim she has been getting close to Johnny as their relationship blossoms. His management refused to comment this evening.
