Sixty Three

"Are you planning to get back into dancing Meghan?" Sharon asked from across the table where the group were eating a delicious meal. "Potentially Mom, there is still a lot in my life I need to sort." "Well I think you'd be very good at it..." Sharon said with a smile making Meg's eyes widen that had to be the nicest thing she had said to her daughter for some time. "Obviously the extra weight would drop off, and you'd be back to a size 0 again in no time." Sharon added sipping her wine. The entire table went quiet and Johnny cleared his throat clearly uncomfortable before Poppy and Sheryl both spoke up. "If anything I think Meg lost a lot of weight whilst she was dating Alex.." Sheryl said whilst Poppy dropped her cutlery and said "Mom. size 0 is so unhealthy. Meg looks amazing. The best she's ever looked." Poppy looked at her sister with a smile. Meg smiled before turning to her sister in law changing the subject "Polly, when is your mother's next charity event, now that I'm on this side of the country I'd love to support it."

After dinner the family re entered the sitting room, and Meg sat down at her baby sister's insistence, "you've done enough. When Ian gets in from his smoke and she comes back from the bathroom I'm telling them to leave. Who's got a good reason?" The younger sibling said with her hands on her  hips. "Poppy! You can't just kick her out!!" Dan said smirking. "She called Meg fat, she asked Sheryl if she was happy her hair was going grey and said to Travis that I was high maintenance even though we aren't even dating... does she have to stay??" The young woman said bitterly. "Come on it's not for much longer guys." Sheryl said trying to bolster her nieces and nephew. "Yes she gets back on her broom tomorrow." Meg said snuggling into Johnny who kissed her head gently. "She's coming!!" Polly said as the group all got comfortable and Meg slowly moved away from Johnny reluctantly.

"So Meghan, darling, tell me this. Did you not meet a nice Italian on that film set?" "Sorry??" Meg asked. "Well it's just I assumed you were not working the entire time, unless Mr Depp here runs a tight ship? Could you not have socialised a bit more? Got yourself out there." Sharon said sitting down grabbing her wine glass from the coffee table. "Oh umm no I didn't meet anyone." Meg said quietly looking anywhere but her mother. "Oh well there's still time." "Time?" Meg replied. "Yes for marriage and babies. You've just turned 30, I'm sure you could find somebody soon and definitely be with child before your mid thirties." Meg's eyes widened like saucers. "If that's what she wants...." Alice added before turning to his brother in law Ian and making small talk.

After a few more glasses of wine, the family seemed to relax a little more in each other's company. Sharon announced loudly to the group "Oh you must all come in the Summer. We are renting a beach house in Santorini. It would be marvellous to have the whole family together. You can come too Johnny, Travis, bring the children. Unless you've got a fancy woman in your sights?" She said to a shocked Johnny. "Oh umm thank you, I'll have to come back to you on that." He said rolling a cigarette. "Well we best be off. Our flight leaves first thing." Sharon said standing. "Where is it you're going again?" Polly asked. "London, we thought we would spend the Spring in Europe." The couple said their goodbyes and the three children followed them into the foyer.

"Well Meghan, keep an eye on Poppy for us won't you? And Pops just because you're living here now don't think you can get away with not being in touch as much." The mother said wrapping her daughter's in another hug, Meg rolled her eyes, her Mom was rarely in touch so thought it was ironic her little sister was being scolded for the same thing. "And Dan.. remember you have a family too ok? The girls need you more than they let on." "Actually Mom, I think the girls are just fine, they've got plenty going on here and people who care for them."

Meghan finally shut the front door and lent against it. "We did it. We survived." She called out jokingly. "Pop the bubbly!!" Poppy said kicking off her heels. "She wasn't AS bad as I thought she'd be." Dan said making his two sister's eyebrows raise. "As bad? Please... she was on top form. She literally insulted me at every opportunity. Pops, do you think this dress makes me look bigger than I am?" Meg said nervously to her sister but the whole group heard. Johnny soon approached wrapping his arms around his girlfriend, "It makes you look divinely fucking sexy." He said quietly kissing her neck making her giggle. "Oh stop!!" Alice said turning his head away from the view. "Now I for one am looking forward to the family vacation!" Travis said leaning back on the couch chuckling. "You think she's joking." Poppy said pouring more wine. "She'll expect us all there and would be personally insulted if you didn't come." "Woah,  so this isn't gonna be just sleepovers?" Alice said staring at Poppy and Travis. "Oh Please Unc.. I'm 25!!" Poppy giggled. "I'm not subjecting Johnny or the kids to her on a family vacation." Meg said seriously. "Hey I was invited." Johnny said faking insult. "You really want a summer vacation with my mother?!" Meg said shocked. "Doll.. I wouldn't say it's my ideal vacation but if it would make you and her happy." "I can't believe my band mate and my niece are planning summer vacations together... they've only been dating since Friday." Alice said rolling his eyes with a chuckle. "Count yourself lucky Unc. Both my sisters were single, well I thought they were until I arrived and found these two beefcakes in their beds." Dan said taking a large sip of wine.
