The large group piled back into the Meg's house "Well that was lovely." Sharon said whilst Dan rolled his eyes. "What bit was? The moment you scolded the young waitress, the moment you flirted with the barman or the fact you quite happily let Alice and Johnny pay?" Sharon turned on the spot. "I'll get dinner..." She said rolling her eyes at her son. "There won't be a dinner. Well certainly not with me present; I have plans." Meg said heading into the kitchen. "But darling, Ian and I fly home tomorrow..." "Well maybe you shouldn't surprise us with your presence then? I have plans." "Doll.." Johnny said quietly earning a look from his girlfriend. "I'm sure you can find somewhere to go in this marvellous city. Why not go show Callum the sights?" Meg said before beginning to make coffee. The group fanned out into the living room leaving Johnny alone with Meg. "Darling I know I promised you dinner out. But it doesn't have to be tonight. Hell it can be any night this week, I think you should spend time with your mother." Meg huffed. "She ruins everything..." she whined like a child. "Granted she seems like hard work but I promise you'll regret it if you don't." "I really don't want to go back out with her though..." "then don't. Keep her here under your roof. Order in or something but I promise we will get a rain check on that dinner and I'll wine and dine you in the week." Johnny wrapped his arms around her before kissing her passionately. "Promise?" Meg said with a smile. "I promise." "Ok thank you." "You're welcome. Now I should go in and save Alice shouldn't I..." "Go on, I'll be in shortly." Meg said with a smile.
An hour later the group were sat in the sitting room with one another "so that's settled then, Meg will cook and we'll have dinner here tonight." Poppy said with a soft smile. "Make it fancy Meghan, it's my big farewell meal, we should make it a proper dinner party." Sharon said without a care in the world that evening was a mere few hours away and her daughter had zero notice whatsoever. "Sure Mom." She said through gritted teeth. "Well we best get back to our hotel. We'll come by at 7:30?" Sharon said standing and beginning to say her goodbyes. As Meg closed the door on her mother and step father she heard the collective sigh of relief from those that remained. Travis stood and began to grab his jacket, "Where do you think you're going?" Meg said chuckling. "Ummm home? I only stayed around for Poppy's sake..." Travis said raising an eyebrow. "Woah woah woah.. you're in and you're staying. That's what you get for bunking up with my sister last night." Meg said leaning on the back of the couch. "We didn't even do anything!!!" Travis exclaimed. "Well just think if you get her through this dinner party then she'll owe you one Trav." Meg said with a smirk before looking at her aunt. "What on earth can I throw together in four hours!" "Don't worry darling you're a wonderful host. Anything you do will be fabulous." Sheryl said patting the woman's hand.
A few hours later Meg had rushed around and set a beautiful large table in the dining room, prepared a delicious smelling meal and was rushing up the stairs to find something to wear to the 'dinner party.' Johnny had returned home with a promise of being back before her mother arrived. She loved how supportive he had been and how loved she had felt on her birthday weekend. Travis had finally agreed to attend the dinner with a promise everyone would drop the comments about him and Poppy. The latter smirked but knew her siblings would abide to the rule given the fact their mother was more than enough for them all to handle without them all turning on one another. Meg rushed into her large walk in closet and started going through her clothes. She couldn't find anything suitable, knowing her mother was never one to hold her tongue. Eventually she found a well cut tailored emerald green dress. It was more a formal office wear dress but could easily pass as a dinner dress if she gave herself a bouncy blow dry and glam make up. It finished just above the knee and was well cut, cinching her in at the waist with pretty sleeves that finished just below her elbows. Deciding on that and quickly getting ready she thought back to her party and the wonderful gifts Johnny had given her. Deciding to don her new necklace she rushed back to her dressing table and opened the velvet box that held the necklace. She clasped it around her neck before heading back down towards the kitchen. As she made her way down the staircase, Johnny and Travis came through the door looking smart. Johnny stopped in his tracks and looked up. "Hey doll. You look incredible." He said with a smile. "Thank you." Meg gushed as she approached and kissed him. Travis cleared his throat before Meg pulled back "She's upstairs. Don't expect her to be ready before 7." Meg smiled before taking Johnny's hand and leading him into the kitchen. "Woah something smells good." "Thank you... it should be ready soon." "I bought wine.." Johnny held the bottles up and began opening one whilst Meg pottered around. "I was thinking if your Mum keeps going on about Alex tonight, We should just tell her?" Johnny said. Meg's eyes widened "Johnny you don't know her like I do. We really shouldn't." "But I can't stand the girl I adore being slated especially by her own mother." "Sadly this is how our family is." Meg said shrugging. "Ok.. well I've decided on one thing..." "Oh?" Meg asked approaching wrapping her arms around him and smiling. "I want us to spend more time with the kids, I want you to get to know them and them to get to know you more." Johnny said with a sincere smile. "Wow.. are you sure?" "Yes, if you are." Johnny said happily.
