Chapter Fifty Two

"I'll come by shortly, I've just gotta finish this smoke and find my jacket."
"Oh so I'll see you in four hours then?" Meg smirked down the phone to Johnny. She was sat on the end of her bed in a gold pleated midi skirt, and black body suit attempting to put on her heels with one hand. She had glam make up and a big bouncy blow dry ready for the evening ahead.
"Now now.. my time management is getting better."
"Yeah sure it is.. you're rubbing off on me.. I'm never late."
"Mmm rubbing against you. That's a thought!" Johnny smirked and she could hear the smile.
"Stop!!!" She giggled before continuing. "Hurry ok?" "Yeah yeah I'll be there soon I promise."
"Ok see you.."
"Bye doll."

She hung up the phone and finished with the buckle on her barely there heels before standing and grabbing her clutch bag. There was a knock on her door and it was Poppy looking spectacular in a blazer style dress. "Woah, you look amazing!" Meg said with a smile. "Hang on.. is that my dress?" She asked. "Maybe... look you owe me remember I'm keeping a secret for you." "God I'm gonna regret this aren't I? What is it you wanted?" "No you're not... I was just checking you were ok? I think Alice and Sheryl are ready I heard them go downstairs." "Yeah I'm ok.. and I'm ready. Ready as I'll ever be I suppose." Meg smiled straightened out her shoulders and led the way out the room.

The four gathered in the living room sipping some champagne. "Not that I don't want you here but you really didn't need to fly out all this way." Meg said sat by her uncle. "Nonsense, and miss your 30th birthday? God I remember when you were born." He said with a smile making her blush. "And we've got a lovely quiet weekend planned haven't we?" Sheryl said with a smile. "Yes exactly that... I think Meg has plans though." "Do I Poppy?" The elder sister questioned sternly. "With your man?" Poppy said smiling. "Umm yeah possibly." Meg said sipping her drink. "Well as long as he takes good care of you girl, that's all that matters." Alice said sipping his coffee. "So what time is this dinner?" Sheryl asked her two nieces. "Oh table is booked for an hour. Sorry it's all we could get." Meg said nervously. Poppy nodded agreeing before a loud knock at the door was heard and Meg's eyes widened. "Oh who could that be?" Poppy said smirking. "No idea." Meg said almost rolling her eyes. "Well are you two girls gonna answer your door?" Alice said confused and Meg nodded standing. "I'll go." She said. The woman walked into the foyer and headed to the front door opening it.

"Hey doll!" Johnny said over friendly and pulled her into a hug. "Johnny... what a surprise." She said acting and welcoming him in. "Sorry I just wanted to see my pal. Is he here yet?" "He sure is, come on through." She could see him eyeing her up and licking his lips, she smiled bashfully hoping he liked her outfit. "Look who's here." She said with a smile as Alice turned on the couch and stood. "Hey, it's the Captain! How the hell are ya John?" He wrapped the man in a hug before Johnny moved to greet Sheryl. "Well don't you lot all scrub up well.. where are you off to?" "Well Sheryl and Alice wanted to celebrate Meg's birthday, we are off to Maude in Beverly Hills." Poppy said elegantly. "Ah wonderful..." Johnny trailed off before Meg handed him a glass of champagne from the ice bucket on the coffee table. "So John, what have you been up to?" Alice asked as Johnny discreetly moved closer to Meg. "Umm this and that." "Oh?" Sheryl asked with a smile, "Any new projects?" "You could say that..." Johnny said sipping his drink. "And?" Alice asked. "And what?" "You two?" He replied making both Johnny and Meg's eyes widen like saucers. "What about us?" Meg squeaked. "The film you're working on.. when does it premiere?!" "Ohhhhh.." Meg said looking at Johnny. "Probably in the Fall." He added looking at Poppy who was barely keeping it together without bursting into giggles.

"Actually, Alice, Sheryl there was something I wanted to talk to you about... well tell you.." Meg said sitting on the opposite couch as Johnny sat down beside her. Poppy clapped her hands together and quickly sat back down beside her Aunt. "Well don't keep us in suspense." Sheryl said with a smile. "I, umm, well I know, it's just, I think you know.." "Good god Meg spit it out, we've got reservations in 45 minutes." Alice chuckled light heartedly to his niece. "Whatever it is, you can tell us." He said kindly seeing her shocked face.

"We are in a relationship." Johnny said grabbing Meg's hand and squeezing it before holding it up. He smiled his award winning smile and prayed his friend would take the news well. "Oh my goodness!"Sheryl gushed and Meg nodded slowly. "That's umm, that's quite interesting." Alice mumbled. "Interesting?" Poppy questioned, of all the things she thought her uncle would say, interesting wasn't one of them. "You do make a beautiful couple." Sheryl gushed before sipping her drink. "We think so." Meg blushed profusely replying. "Pal?" Johnny asked looking directly at Alice who took a deep breath and nodded before standing, Johnny's eyes widened in shock. "Come on, you know me. I'd never intentionally hurt my girl, she makes me happy and I hope I make her happy to, it would make us both really happy if you were on board with this." Johnny rushed out standing too. "I know you do John." "Wait what?" Johnny replied. "I see how happy she's been on the tour, in the photos from Italy, and over the holidays. If you're the reason then I'd never stop it. Hell I have no right to even if I wanted to." Alice held out his hand formally before pulling Johnny into a bone crushing hug as Meg stood. She then hugged her uncle before he pulled back and held her by the shoulders and said "Now don't you be thinking that this gets you out of photographing our next tour though ok?!!" Meg bashfully smiled. "I suppose you better join us for dinner hey John?" Alice added. "I was kinda hoping you'd say that, so I made the reservation for 5." Meg said as Johnny put an arm around her and she cuddled his torso. Alice nodded before turning to his wife. "So you were right all along.. there was somebody very special in her life."
