Chapter Forty Eight

The group of five made their way into a private area of the restaurant. Meg hated using Johnny's influence but he insisted upon it claiming it would ruin the evening if he was constantly approached. Poppy's eyes went wide as Johnny ordered the finest wine for the table and began to pour it out like an old friend. "Dan, Pol don't be strangers ok?" Poppy said raising her glass. "Says you! You're fucking off to the fast east again soon aren't you??" "Not necessarily" the little sister exclaimed. "Wait, you're not?" Meg said shocked. "I think I wanna settle.. not settle down with someone.. obvs. Just like be in the same place for a while. Find myself." "I thought that's why you went travelling.." "What she means is, she wants you to take care of her!" Dan said to Meg. "Me??" "Well she sure as hell isn't living with me!" Dan chuckled beginning to read his menu. "I don't have a house!" Meg responded. "Umm.." Johnny said smirking. "You do?" "Well yeah, I know I have somewhere to live and I'm very grateful but I'm not moving her into your home. That's just completely inappropriate and besides... that's what SHE did." Meg said angrily. "She?? Ohhhh..." Poppy's eyes went wide. "Hang on but that was.." "Anyway.. the seafood looks good doesn't it?" Meg said moving the conversation along. Polly smiled and agreed.

Their main courses were served and Polly turned to Johnny "So when is the new movie premiering?" "Oh not for a while. Maybe this fall. I've got a serious load of post edit stuff to look at. Hoping I can maybe get it to a festival." "Wow, that's impressive. You'll have to get Meg to let us know which one. My brother in law, he is in the industry. Nothing as glamorous as you but he attends a lot of those events." "Oh wow. What's he in?" "He's an executive producer and screenplay writer." "Wow... maybe I know him?" "Oh I doubt it!" Polly gushed embarrassed. Wow, was this finally Polly Stevenson being humble Meg thought. "So Megs.. when are you going dancing again?" "Oh I don't know.. they've got a practice night in a few weeks. I might see how I feel.. I'm not sure though." The woman took a sip of her drink and then quietly excused herself. She stood and Johnny and her brother did the same, their chivalry matching. Meghan smiled before heading to the ladies.

"Right are you coming back for her birthday or not? There's no way she's gonna buy me staying just for the sake of it!" Poppy said to her brother in hushed tones. "Yes yes.. we'll be here. I guess we could fly in on the Friday." Dan said looking at his wife before Johnny interrupted. "Is this for Meg's big 3 0?" He asked. Poppy nodded. "Of course you're invited. We didn't know if you wanted to invite your friends, what are their names, Tina and Kevin?" Johnny gave a very confused look before saying "Do you mean Gina and Stephen?" "Yes them! I think we'll just do a quiet dinner? We can't get a party venue booked at this late stage!" Johnny rubbed his chin before saying "Would you allow me a moment?" Dan nodded before Johnny leaned in on his elbow. "How about the salsa club? It's only been open a few months and I bet it would love the business. Plus it's something she loves. We could make it a surprise." "Oh my god amazing!! Yes let's do that.. but umm.." Dan smirked "Of course I'll have to cover the costs.. you don't have a pot to piss in stood there in your designer heels!" He joked with his little sister. "Hey, they were an investment!" "Don't worry about money. I'll cover it." "Johnny we couldn't possibly..." Dan said sincerely. "How about we go Dutch then? I mean it." The brother smiled and held out his hand shaking it with Johnny's. "I'll get my people working on it and Poppy you can discuss with them about details." "Oh my god!!! Amazing!!! Thank you so so much!" The giddy blonde said clapping her hands together. "Shhhh she is coming back!" Said a giggling Polly.

The dinner went well and everyone had enjoyed the evening. Dan and Polly could barely keep their hands off one another. Meg admired it, she loved how in love her brother was. Poppy insisted on going off to a wine bar to meet Matt. Whilst the older four returned back to sweetzer.

"Nightcap?" Meg asked as she entered her foyer and pulled off her heels. "What the hell, our flight isn't until the afternoon!" Polly giggled matching her sister in law's actions. Dan and Johnny smiled and followed the girls into the kitchen. "So have Alice and Sheryl mentioned when they would next visit?" Dan asked. "Not yet. I assume she will be over within the month, you know she doesn't like missing any of our birthdays" Meg said sipping some wine. "That's cute. I love your Uncle, he is such good fun." Polly said looking at her husband. "Yeah I should spend more time with him.." Dan said quietly reflecting. "Hey not all of us get to go on tour with him." Meg smirked looking at Johnny who smiled. "And what a fun summer it was." "Very much so... I read somewhere that apparently you are hitting the road again this Summer?" Meg said teasing. "Are we? That's news to me, then again I never listen perhaps we can? Will you come again?" Meg's eyes widened. "It was the best summer I have had in a long time, I wouldn't say no." Polly looked on at the pair who didn't seem to be bothered that there were others in the room as they continued their conversation with one another. Eventually, she managed to distract her husband enough to get him upstairs, smugly thinking she had done a nice thing to see if Johnny and Meg would "hit it off." Little did she know, that they had very much hit it off and were now planning their next date.

"Tonight was fun, thank you for coming." Meg said leaning closer to Johnny,. "Thank you for inviting me." He said rolling a cigarette. "If you can put up with my siblings, you are welcome anytime." Meg giggled. "They aren't that bad.. you can tell you all love each other deeply. I think your bro plays the big protector and feels guilty he hasn't been around much." "Yeah he was always the reflector, the thinker, he will be ok." Meg said adding more wine to their glasses. "What are your plans this weekend?" Johnny asked. "Nothing.. if Poppy is still here then probably getting her house trained, and getting her a job. What about you?" "I am free friday, if you wanted to umm join me for dinner again?" "Really?" Meg said excitedly. "Yes really." Johnny chuckled licking his filter paper. " "I'd like that." Meg smiled leaning into kiss him passionately.
