The Kind Hufflepuff - Year Two

Chapter Thirty- Four: Gryffindor Rager

---

"I can't believe you're still avoiding John," Greta groaned, falling onto her bed. "I mean, it's been 3 days!" she complained to the first year who had just finished ranting about the boy.

"I didn't realize the potion wore off, Greta," Daisy reasoned, reminding the girl of that fact. "I was sitting on his lap playing with his nose as he looked at me with pure confusion. I'm so embarrassed."

"We know," Cali argued. "But he is our friend."

Daisy sighed, looking at her feet as she nodded. "I know."

"Talk to him, Daisy. Maybe you'll be surprised about what he has to say."

"At the party?" Daisy's eyes widened in shock as Greta nodded.

"He's going too, as good as time as any."

"Fine, I won't run away from him," Daisy relented, rolling her eyes.

"We weren't boy crazy when we were 11," Cali told Greta, "Right?"

"You might not have been, but I was," Greta laughed.

The three had decided to dress casual despite the chatter about this party, with rumors of kegs and stolen butterbeer and fire whiskey permeating through the hallways. Sirius Black had made a big deal about the entire school being invited except for Slytherins, not even including his brother in the event, and that alcohol would be provided. He had high hopes for this birthday to be the biggest event of the year, and his best friends seemed to be willing to commit to the challenge for it to happen. The other Hufflepuff girls they had seen today had been wearing outrageous clothing, merely scraps of fabric covering their bodies in a loose fashion rather than actual clothes in Cali's opinion.

Cali initially hadn't been interested in attending the party, annoyed with the Gryffindor for publicly disinviting Regulus from his birthday party. However, Greta had a plan to salvage her image with the same Gryffindor after what had happened on Halloween and had begged Cali to go with her, hoping that her using the excuse of attending with her best friend made her seem like less of a freak.

"Do you think Sirius hates me?" Greta feared.

"Girl," Daisy groaned, rolling her eyes.

"Like you can complain," Cali argued with Daisy before turning to Greta, "No. He loved the attention."

Greta sighed, "I seem like such a loser."

Daisy and Cali shared a glance before turning to their friend who had decided to wear and pink and floral summer dress, barely reaching her fingertips as it adorned a floral pattern and revealed a decent amount of her budding chest. She looked cute and fashionable in their opinion and knew that Sirius would notice the attire. "You are not a loser, you look cute," Cali assured the girl.

The sound of the excited chatter throughout the girls dormitory began to quieten, which was their sign that everyone was started to head to the Gryffindor tower, one of the furthest dormitories from the Hufflepuff Common Room in the school. "Are we ready?" Cali asked the two, already wanting the night to be over.

"Yes," Daisy and Greta replied once they checked over themselves one last time, smoothing their hair and flattening their outfits to ensure that there were no wrinkles before they had turned to her, satisfied with their results.

"Glad to hear it, let's go," Cali mumbled, opening their door, and hit with the scent of roses and strawberries from the perfumes that had overpowered the girl's dormitory. The three girls headed into the common room quickly, greeting John who had been sitting on the couch reading a book, likely unaware of the escapades happening around him. "Hi John," Cali greeted.
