The Kind Hufflepuff - Year Three

Chapter Sixty- Nine: Teleportation

---

Cali Higgs had begun to dread April Fools Day.

It seemed like every single year, there was something absolutely ridiculous happening and the fact that it usually was at the fault of the Gryffindor boys didn't help in any way. She had practically been dragged to the Great Hall, the doors already open for the morning as the day was in full swing though the pranks had been fairly mild thus far. A bucket of water had been dropped on a few Ravenclaws this morning, and a dungbomb had been set off in the Slytherin common room but neither appeared to be the handiwork of the Gryffindors.

No, everything had seem pretty mild and Cali had foolishly been hopeful that the boys had forgotten about this ridiculous holiday though Greta had laughed at her when she had suggested such a thing. It wasn't a secret that the Gryffindors LIVED for this day. But just as Cali had lost her guard, there was a sudden drum sound that echoed through the halls as writing appeared in the air.

"Beware of the doors. - The Marauders."

"The Marauders?" John asked, "Why does that sound so familiar?" But Cali had remembered exactly where she had heard that word as her head snapped up to the Gryffindor table to see a familiar red head stand to threaten James Potter.

"You're seriously going to use my words against me?" She yelled at the boy who laughed in response.

"I'm thinking you heard Lily Evans call them a Marauder," Greta shrugged.

"He did in The Three Broomsticks," Cali confirmed. "After James had hexed Lily's date."

"What does beware of the doors mean?" Greta questioned, looking around.

"I have no idea," Cali shrugged. "But it's time to go to class, we'll find out soon enough."

They had walked towards their Charms class when they noticed somebody grab the door and suddenly disappear. "I think we just figured out what beware of the doors mean," Greta sighed.

"Yeah, wanna open it?" John shrugged.

"Why not?" Cali laughed as she grabbed the door before being transported to the Potions classroom. A few moments later the rest of them joined her as the group groaned. "So each door goes to a different classroom?"

"Appears so," Greta confirmed as they exited the classroom.

"Do we really want to deal with this all day?" Cali asked curiously.

"We are just going to be late all day," John mused.

"Skip day?" Greta asked.

"Skip day," Cali decided as they turned the corner back to the Hufflepuff common room.

"Cali!" Called a familiar voice and she turns to see Regulus and smiles brightly.

"Hi!"

"Skipping classes?" Regulus guessed, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Yeah," Cali confirmed. "Not worth it."

"I had decided the second I saw the note that was going to happen," Regulus admitted. "What's happening?"

"Every classroom door opens to a different classroom," Cali replied.

"Sounds about right, pretty decent dose of magic."

"Yeah," Cali giggled. "Do you have any plans today?"

"I do," Regulus nodded slowly, before smirking when he saw her face fall. "With you."

"Merlin," Cali groaned. "What plans?"

"Come with me," Regulus declared, grabbing her hand as he guided them to the kitchens.

"I think the kitchens might have lost their charm," Cali sighed. "We go here all the time."

"That's why it hasn't," Regulus decides.

"What does Master Regulus and Calista want?" a young house elf asked, excited.

"Just call me Reg," Regulus assured the elf.

"Cali will do," Cali pipped up. "Nice to meet you."

"She would like to get some candy floss and a raspberry fizz, if possible?"

"A muggle pop?" The house elf hummed. "I shall get it for you," before the house elf disappeared.

"I never said what I wanted," Regulus laughed.

"What do you want?"

"Black licorice and an espresso," Regulus shrugged.

"I'll make sure they get it for you," Cali reassured.

"So, how have you been?" Regulus asked the girl.

"Pretty great, we got to see Grindylows in class a few days ago," Cali gushed. "They were absolutely fascinating creatures. I didn't get the chance to draw them but I did write quite a bit of notes on them. I hope one day that I'll be able to see them in their natural habitat."

"Is that what you want to happen?" Regulus asked curious. "Like after Hogwarts?"

"To study magical animals?" Cali guessed and Regulus nodded in response. "Every day. But with the war brewing, I feel bad for even wanting that."

"My fate is sealed, yours is not," Regulus assured.

"My fate is not sealed," Cali confirmed, "But neither is yours."

"Sirius wont become head of family, I know he's wanting to leave permanently one day. Maybe not soon but one day, he will be gone and I will be expected to step up as the head of house," Regulus informed her.

"Maybe," Cali shrugged. "But that doesn't mean you have to follow in their footsteps."
