The Kind Hufflepuff - Year Two

Chapter Thirty- Five: Wizarding Secrecy

---

As it had turned out, the party had gone particularly well for Daisy and John. The two had ended up drinking a few butterbeers, much to the chagrin of Cali who had lectured them for quite some time about the dangers of underage drinking. But the result of those butterbeers had caused Daisy to spill the beans of her crush on the older boy who admitted he was not sure if had a thing for her, but was willing to try which is what led to Cali sitting on her bed, listening to the begging of Daisy who sat beside her, trying to convince her to join them on their date to make it less awkward.

"Daisy, no."

"Why not?"

"It's weird to go alone," Cali argued.

"So, bring someone?"

"Like who?"

"Bertram? Regulus? I don't care," Daisy whined.

"But I'm not dating either of them?" Cali questioned.

"So?" Daisy questioned. "Ask them as friends."

Cali thought about it for a moment, remembering that her and Regulus had a Pureblood lesson that night and sighed, "Fine. It might be good for Regulus and I to hang out before that evil class."

"What has been happening in that class?"

"Mostly etiquette stuff. The proper way to eat, talk, dress. It's been very boring stuff but tamer than I had been expecting," Cali shrugged. "But there's always such an odd vibe during the class."

"Malfoy is pretty scary," Daisy agreed.

"Terrifying," Cali concurred.

"Alright, well let's go to lunch so we can ask Regulus. The date starts right after," Daisy informed the girl.

"I'm sure Greta and John are waiting for us there," Cali agreed.

When they reached the common room, she greeted her friends quickly before heading over to the Slytherin table alone. "Hi Regulus," Cali greeted the boy, avoiding eye contact with the rest of the Slytherins who had stopped what they were doing to observe the interaction as she brushed strand of hair behind her ear.

"Hey," he was friendly, but confused.

"Do you want to go with me on a double date?" Cali asked, "As friends."

"Oh, um," he began, looking around the Slytherin table who was openly watching the pair as he gulped, before nodding. "Sure."

"Great, meet me at the end of lunch," Cali instructed before rushing towards the Hufflepuff table.

"Well?" Daisy asked eagerly.

"He said yes," Greta interrupted.

"How do you know that?" Cali asked, surprised.

"Regulus practically worships you," Greta shrugged.

"He does not," Cali argued. "We're best friends."

"Not," Greta rolled her eyes. "The two of you are friends in the same way that they are friends," she replied gesturing to John and Daisy who were sitting beside each other, engaged in a conversation that separated them from the rest of the group.

"They're considering dating," Cali seemed confused.

"Exactly."

When lunch was finally over, Regulus appeared almost immediately by Cali's side while Daisy and John practically jumped out of their seats. "They're going on a date?" Regulus asked, seemingly surprised as Cali nodded in confirmation. "I guess that makes sense," Regulus mumbled, contemplatively. "Do you happen to know what we're doing on this date?" Regulus asked the girl who shook her head.
