The Kind Hufflepuff - Year Three

Chapter Sixty- Eight: Tarantellegra

---

Cali and John walked into The Three Broomsticks laughing loudly as they held large bags of candy when they caught sight of a boy dancing wildly. His blonde hair was less combed now that his legs were spasming in different directions and his face was red with embarrassment as he couldn't make the dancing stop. James Potter had his wand out, pointing it towards the older Hufflepuff boy as he laughed loudly with his three best friends directly behind laughing along.

The boy that had clearly been cursed was Amos Diggory and Lily Evans was yelling at the Gryffindor boys almost soundlessly, her shrieks unable to be heard due to how loud it was inside. The dancing stopped immediately when the Hufflepuff shouted, "I'm sorry! I won't ask out Lily again! Please just let me stop." As he came to a step, he fell to the ground when his legs suddenly stopped being controlled.

John tried to drag Cali to a seat but Cali refused, wanting to see what was going to happen.

Amos Diggory scrambled to his feet again and quickly left, knocking shoulders with Cali on his way out as Lily Evans stormed up to James Potter. "You know for a group of boys who hate the Slytherins so much because of their bullying tendencies-" Her voice was calmer now that her date was no longer dancing uncontrollably, her voice was hard as she glared up at the taller Gryffindor. "You guys want to act like you're heroes in comparison but you're not. You're no better than the Slytherins you despise," she spat.

"You guys are nothing but Marauders and vandals, destroying and stealing everything you come across. You guys are disgusting," she informed her, her glare turning towards the boys behind James who had stopped laughing entirely at this point.

Sirius stepped forward, wanting to argue with the girl but Lily had already taken out her wand and hexed James with the bat bogey hex as he covered his nose and Lily stormed away from the group, furiously wiping at her tears. Marlene quickly followed after the girl as she had been sitting in a booth nearby, likely with Sirius before the whole thing started and slapped the boy on her way out.

Cali wanted to follow after the girl, her eyes trained on the girl as she watched her retreating figure. She turned back to the Gryffindor boys who had shaken off the entire situation and were now laughing together once more like nothing had happened. She slowly walked up to the group, her eyes downcast as she approached and they noticed her presence pretty quickly. "You don't need to say anything," Peter rolled his eyes, "Lily had plenty."

"It was her first date," Cali informed them. "Even if you do like her, James. It was her first date and she was excited. She deserved to have a nice first date. My bad first date was because of the guy and that sucks but that's natural but instead, her date turned horribly not because the guy sucked but because a group of jerks decided they couldn't let her be happy."

"Ok, we get it," Sirius snapped. "Back off. This is none of your business anyways."

"You're right," Cali confirmed as Remus performed a spell that reversed the Bat Bogey Curse. "I have nothing to do with this at all. So I'm the only one in this group with a level head. What you guys did was gross and what she said was justified."

"How can you say that?" Sirius growled, stalking up to the girl quickly.

"Because I just watched you guys do the same thing I've seen Slytherins do countless times. To me, to others," Cali shrugged. "You might not see it as that bad..." Cali trailed off. "But it was."
