Chapter-7

Author's POV

It's been days since Chase attended the inaugural ceremony of the Science laboratory at Hunter's University. Although Chase assured her, she was worried to death. She pestered Rain to check all possible media again and again. She even went through different newspapers and magazines to make sure her photos weren't published.

Only when she was sure did she heave a sigh of relief. For two days, she was on the edge. Getting annoyed and worried for the smallest of the small things. But after confirming that her photos weren't surfacing online or in any media platform for that matter, she relaxed.

Mr. Jason, surprisingly didn't scold her for what happened. She was quite surprised as he didn't even talk about it.

After Rain found Rose in the dressing room, she kept asking about Chase.

For days, Rain talked about Chase and his alleged brutality, as she also didn't witness it first-hand. Rose was scared, but she couldn't bring herself to consider him so cruel. She didn't even want to think about him.

He helped her, it is well and good. Why would she ponder much upon him?

Rain narrated different stories about Chase and his family. Rose did listen to a few of them. When it got too intense and graphical, she stopped Rain from telling her about him.

She didn't want to know about this violent stuff. It sent chills down her spine. It brought her unnecessary, painful memories back, which she didn't want to remember at all.

Despite Rain's plenty of stories and gossip, Rose didn't bother to check about him online.

From what she learnt about him, she understood that he was a very violent person. He is the one who ruled the Northern States, he owns several Multinational companies, he is short-tempered, he is rich, handsome, powerful and cruel!!

From their little conversation, she felt that he was a warm, understanding and considerate human. But what Rain said is anything but humane!!

Apart from those two days of being edgy and the fact that she only wore a Red dress among all the other volunteers nothing else bothered her. She wanted to know why Jason would lie or misinform her regarding the colour code...but she didn't do anything. He excused such a big blunder, so she didn't bother too much.

Everything else was almost normal. She attended classes, went to Vintage Cafe and then returned home.

What felt out of the ordinary was the sense of being watched or followed. It increased day by day. She even noticed a black car parked in front of her house a few times.

She wanted to discuss it with her father, but she didn't. She knew he would be worried and it would have bad effects on his health. So she didn't tell anyone. Not even to Rain.

She tried to remove that thought from her head and stayed as calm as possible. Sometimes it scared her. This feeling of being watched!! She nearly got a panic attack because of this feeling.

If her father saw her getting attacks again, he would give up hope of living. She nearly lost him once and she cannot afford to lose him....not again! She didn't want that to happen. So she ignored that feeling as much as possible.

It wasn't the same for Chase. He was thoroughly distracted by Rose. Ever since he saw her, she distracted his focus. First, it was less...as days passed, her thoughts appeared now and then.

So even now, he stopped looking at the pile of files and was looking at the laptop screen. It was a photo of him and Rose taken during the inaugural ceremony.
