Chapter-43

Author's POV

Rose was seated in the swing chair, just as she had been doing the entire week, counting the infinite stars. She kept counting the stars, but soon her attention began to wander. She lost the count.

There was no trace of the moon in the sky, making the sky look more grey and dark.

She stopped counting the stars and looked at nothing in particular.

The chilly wind sent shivers down her spine. The weather was more colder compared to the last few nights.

Since that day, Chase hasn't hurt her in any way or means.

He would sit and watch her eating and then quietly leave the room. She spent most of her time reading since her internals were starting from next week.

Chase watched her reading with utmost interest.

Chase tried to talk with her but she gave silent treatment to him. She would nod or shake her head, that's it.

As much as angry he was, he didn't drag it.

Chase was angry with himself. He promised not to hurt her. Yet, he did exactly what he promised not to do.

She had all the right to ignore him. He couldn't take her ignorance and acted upon his anger.

Rose chose to focus on her internals. Rest all can wait.

But Chase, he couldn't focus on anything.

She was so near yet so far.

The distance between them created chaos in his heart. He felt restless. He wanted to be the guy she deserved, but he also knew..it was impossible.

He can never be the smooth gentle man. He is what he is. It is what it is.

He is a fucking Don! He cannot let her control his mind.

He knew Rose was affecting him way too much but he couldn't do anything to stop it.

It was too late to stop! Probably!

It was different tonight. Chase had to work overtime. By the time, he reached the mansion...it was already midnight.

He parked the car in the garage and was about to walk inside the mansion but his tired eyes fell on the petite figure sitting on the swing chair.

He looked at his wristwatch and sighed.

He made his way towards the swing chair, she heard the footsteps behind her. She knew it was Chase.

Who else would like to bother her at this time of night?

She didn't look back. She decided to ignore him.

He removed his suit and placed it around her. She felt warm.

He sat in the farthest corner of the chair and laid his head on her lap.

She looked down angrily and pushed his head off her lap but Chase didn't budge.

" I'm tired Rose" he said, letting out a sigh of tired.

She looked down at him, making an unbothered face.

" Talk to me.. please" He sounded desperate.

She looked aside, immediately.

His dark blue eyes were looking at her intensely. She didn't look at him. She didn't want to fall for his acting again.
