Chapter-27

Author's POV

Chase signed the file and passed it to Denise. They were working on the acquisition of 'Lexix'

Lexix was a strong rival of Griffin's, in terms of legal business. He wanted to take down Lexix for a very long time. And now that his carefully knitted plan had worked in his favour, he had one less thing to worry about.

He was happy that he could focus his energy and time on Rose and only Rose.

Ever since that night, Rose stopped talking to him completely. She ate the food brought by Anila and stayed in the room silently. She thought she missed the internals and for that exact reason, she was extremely angry with him.

She spoke with Matthew every day. She avoided talking to Rain. For some reason, she avoided Rain. Not that she was angry with her or something like that. She knew she would cry if she talked to Rain.

She didn't want to overthink about anything. Days were passing. She didn't talk to Chase after that fateful night. She didn't even respond to Chase when he asked her anything. She gave him silent treatment.

Chase was angry. He was angry with himself. The way she was affecting him was beyond comprehensible. He couldn't look into her eyes after that night. And he failed to do anything without seeing her. He wanted to see her.

Putting on a shameless face, he came to see her daily. Rose ignored him like a plague. His breakfast was served in her room. They ate together, not in the literal sense.

He watched her as she ate in silence. As soon as she ate, she rushed towards the balcony. Chase quietly watched her watching the garden. He knew she wanted to go out, but as of now, he didn't do anything about it.

By the time, he returned home from work, she would be long asleep. Instead of going to his room directly, he would sit and watch her for hours. And somehow, it brought peace to his heart.

She was his peace, and he gradually realised it.

He still had his doubts about her. He didn't want to hurt her. But that doesn't mean he will let it go easily. Chase was digging into her past, there was less to zero information available on her past life.

He wanted to talk with her regarding her social media life. He wanted to know why she was not active on any social media. Why are her pictures not posted anywhere, even on her friend's account?

He wanted answers to all of this. To trust her with all his heart, he wanted to know everything about her. He couldn't risk giving his everything to a traitor.

To know everything, he wanted to talk with her. And she wasn't ready to even look at him. Talking seemed impossible now.

Rose was just spending her days. She even lost the count of days. She wanted nothing but to leave this place as soon as possible.

With that hope, she pushed the days.

Her days were extremely boring. She would eat breakfast in his presence and sleep again. That's it. Evenings were a little better. She would sit and watch the garden, talking to Kelly sometimes.

She cracked some stupid jokes with Kelly and laughed at her own stupid jokes. Kelly couldn't help but laugh with her.

She belonged to that kind of girl whose laughter was funnier than the joke itself.

And after dinner, she would sleep unknowing to the fact that she was being watched by him.

It was not just another boring day for her. She was annoyed. She decided to climb down the wall again. She wanted to irritate Chase. She wanted to annoy him for the fact that she wasn't allowed to write her internal exams.
