Chapter-56

Author's POV

She failed to make out whether he believed her or not.

So she continued to look at him in confusion. The more she looked at him, the more he wanted to drown in those beautiful pools.

" Um..when are you letting me go..?" Rose spoke her mind. She wanted to go back to India and never come to this damn State!AGAIN!!

I'm not letting you go...it'll never happen Rose.

Donovan knitted his brows at her and faked a thinking face.

" When I take your fake boyfriend down!" Donovan sounded rude.

Rose was offended by his statement. As much as he hurt her, she couldn't deny the fact that he was nice to her.

" You are being unfair...!" Rose said offended by his statement.

Donovan raised his perfect thick brows in amusement.

" Once a wise man said...." He looked at her with a smirk. She looked at him innocently.

" Everything is fair in love and War..." He air quoted, and his voice sounded smooth yet curt.

Rose let out a tiring sigh.

" My Papa used to say that...men who are hungry for power have no ethics! It is so true!" Rose countered back.

Donovan arched his brows, daring her to look into his eyes. Rose looked down as she noticed the ticking of his muscles.

She thought he would scold her, scream at her or worse, hit her.

Donovan leaned closer, and her breath hitched. He raised his hands and she closed her eyes expecting a tight slap....but it never came.

Instead, she felt him caressing her cheeks with his knuckles. His touch was so soft and feathery. She opened her eyes and looked at him, he was kneeling in front of her. She looked at him in pure confusion.

" I have ethics.," He said, his voice deep. She looked at him, dumbfounded. " You will know..." he said, caressing the mole on her right cheek with his thumb pad.

He continued to look into her eyes. After a while, he got up and that's when she breathed out heavily.

She couldn't breathe when he was so close.

" Um.... I'll ask Layana to bring you food...eat it" Donovan said, casually as if he didn't do anything just now.

Rose shook her head and got up from the couch. Donovan looked at her with knitted brows.

" I'm not hungry..." she said walking past him. But he caught her wrists, she glared at him.

" Leave me...! Don't touch me!" she wiggled angrily.

Donovan didn't like her shouting at him. If anything, he dislikes disrespect and disobedience.

" Don't walk away...and don't raise your voice!" He hissed, gritting his teeth.

She had enough of these men telling her what to do and what not to do.

Pulling her wrists out of his hold, she scoffed at him.

" You are no one to dictate to me what to do and what not to! This is absurd...I'm not staying here for another minute. I'm leaving now!" She snapped at him, her face reddened in anger.
