Chapter-72
Author's POV
It's been a week since that night and Rose completely limited her conversation with Donovan. She was pretty hurt and she didn't know what else to do other than ignoring him.
Her ignorance was adding fuel to his fury. He was losing shit. He would snap for even silly things and lose patience over nothing.
Yesterday, he almost killed the senator for asking him a doubt and it worried Leon.
Leon knew that he was acting all worked up because of Rose. He thought of talking to her. He cannot let his friend go on another killing spree.
Donovan was venting his frustration on Chase's men. They captured those men who set fire to his warehouse and Donovan thoroughly tortured them before granting them a slow death. He took this entire week to inflict pain on them. He would've shot them but that doesn't make sense now.
His Rose asked him to let go of the rivalry and he was hell angry. Not on her, he was raging at Chase.
It didn't satiate him. No bloodbath could calm his heart. Only one person had the ability and it was her. His Rose, His flower.
His Angel. His lover. He knew Rose was being kind and shared no such feelings for Chase. So the very next day he tried to talk but Rose didn't talk much. She didn't stop talking completely but she wasn't talking. It was only replying or responding.
Her indifferent behaviour irked his ego. He wanted her to talk to him like she did, a few days back. He didn't understand why she was acting so indifferent.
Rose, herself, didn't know why she was so confused.
She was genuinely sad when he said he would give a more painful death to Chase. It doesn't matter what he did, she couldn't bring herself to consider him dying at the hands of Donovan because of her. She couldn't even think of that.
She was worried about Chase and what bothered her even more was the fact that she was expecting Donovan to let go of the violence for HER.
She knew it. She knew very well that he wouldn't say yes to her request but somehow that stubborn part of her heart hoped for it.
She was angry with herself for expecting from him. She realised that her feelings for him were getting deeper and she had to do something about it.
So she decided to distance herself from him for some time. It wasn't working well in her favour. She was struggling to keep up with this new change. Every now and then, she felt like talking to him. But she refrained.
Whenever Donovan spoke or asked her something, she kept her replies short....' okay/fine'
That was it.
It agitated Donovan. He would grit his teeth and control the urge to punish her for not speaking properly.
He wanted to kiss her. It's been days since he touched her and he was craving for her.
Rose wasn't given any chance for such physical intimacy.
He even stopped going to the office.
Since she wasn't talking to him, at least he wanted to see her all the time. So, all the work was handled from the mansion itself. He couldn't just ignore the fact that she was ignoring him. He was going insane.
He had enough of her short replies. He wanted to have a nice conversation. By nice, he meant
in-depth conversation. He might lose his mind otherwise.
