Chapter-94

Author's POV

"Here lies 'The Don' - Donovan Angus Frontin"

1994-2023

Her misty blue eyes traced the tombstone gently, so gently as if touching the stone a little hard might really hurt him for real.

Her lips trembled as she looked at the tombstone.

A lone tear escaped her eyes and fell on the Red Roses, she had brought for him.

Too bad he wasn't there to receive the flowers.

She looked at the tomb, a bitter smile playing on her lips. Her eyes were filled with tears of heartbreak. Her heart was overwhelmed with so many emotions. Hurt, grief and loss are the prominent ones.

It's been more than a month since that fateful night and she cannot bring herself to accept the fact that he is gone.

That he is no more.

That he is dead.

That he left her.

Tears streamed down her eyes, wetting her cheeks. She didn't bother to wipe them.

She continued to look at the tomb for a while before closing her eyes. Hot tears gushed down her eyes, she felt her throat restricting.

When she closed her eyes, a pair of beautiful green eyes appeared in front of her eyes. She never thought she could love those green eyes after what she went through in the past. The monster in her past who abused her had the same pair of green eyes, but a shade lighter than Donovan's.

She could feel his green eyes staring right into hers. His eyes were filled with tears too.

She opened her eyes again and this time she looked at the tomb as if she was staring right into his green eyes.

" How are you, Donovan?" She spoke, her voice shaky. Her breathing came out heavy.

A small part of her was expecting a reply from him. She still couldn't bring herself to believe that he was gone.

Her heart clenched painfully when the hard reality hit her.

He is gone.

He is not here..

He left...

He died..

He died..

He died..

He was killed...

" How can you die!!!!" a gut-wrenching scream erupted from her lips, tears soaking her face. She was looking red.

She was Angry, Hurt, Broken and Shattered.

Angry at herself for not telling him how much she loved him. How much she loves him, and how she will never love anyone, hereafter.

She wanted to tell him that no one, literally no one treated her with such gentleness as him.

She wanted him to know that she loved him, right from the beginning.

She wanted to tell him that his green eyes were the most beautiful pair of eyes, she had ever seen.

She wanted to tell him that he was stupid for hurting her and she has forgiven him for slapping her.

She wanted to tell him that she appreciated him for making her happy and treating her like a princess.

She wanted to tell him that she missed him so much and wanted to be in his embrace badly.

She wanted to tell him that it was hurting her so much and she needed a shoulder to lean on and cry.

So many things were left unsaid.

" You are an idiot! How can you die???" She screamed, clutching the Roses which were placed on the tomb. Thorns pierced her skin, drawing blood from her fingers. But she didn't care.

" You are a liar! A big liar!" she cried, screaming at the tombstone.

Tears rushed down her eyes like a waterfall.

" You said you will never leave me! You promised to stay with me forever and what happened now?" She looked at the tombstone with hurt-filled eyes.

If he had been here, her accusatory eyes would have hurt him like anything.

" I cannot bring myself to believe that you are gone! I hate you...!" She cried, her voice decreased by certain octaves. It sounded more like a painful whisper.

Her throat was hurting, she couldn't talk.

She cried, looking at the blood droplets on the red rose.

She wanted nothing but to rest her head on his chest and cry her heart out. She wanted him. She wanted him to hold her. She wanted his warmth.

" Idiot!" she mumbled, a bitter smile played on her lips. She looked at her torn skin and then at the tombstone.

A broken sob escaped her lips as she remembered how he used to reply whenever she called him 'Idiot'

Your Idiot.

" Rose...he is waiting for you!" She heard his voice. She never thought a mere voice could burn her insides. Clenching her jaw she threw him a disgusted look.

He shot Leon.

He killed Leon.

He hit Donovan

" Can't I even grieve for him?" She snapped, without looking at him. The disdain in her voice was clear as crystal.

Denise gritted his teeth but didn't react anything.

" I miss you so much. I miss everything about you. It really hurts. I regret not saying so many things to you. I wish you were here when I say this, but fate had to play another vicious game with me...." Tears ran down her eyes as she tried to smile, looking at the tombstone. "I know your eyes will be filled with so much love and tears of joy as I say this." she smiled bitterly, imagining his reaction.
Of course, he would be smiling wholeheartedly. " Donovan...
I love you. I love you so much..." She confessed, hot tears rolled down her eyes and dropped on his tombstone. She placed her hands on the centre of the tomb and pressed her lips to his name.

" Trust me...I won't kill myself. But I will be waiting for the day to see you again. My life has no meaning without you in it. I love you, Donovan. Until we meet again...." She kissed the name again, placing her hands on the name as if she were cupping his cheeks.

" I miss you more than you will ever know..." Rose said, gulping the lump in her throat.

She closed her eyes and opened them. A fresh set of hot tears gushed down her eyes.

Sniffing the tears back, she got up and walked towards the black SUV, which was waiting for her.

I'm heartbroken and this part was really hard to write.
