Chapter-53

Author's POV

She was afraid. Sighing in defeat, she called his name again.

" Chase please...." she was losing her patience.

He gritted his teeth as she called his name again.

Sighing Rose sat on the bed and looked down, thinking about the possible reasons for her current situation.

Suddenly a subtle warning flashed in her mind.

"Don't talk to any men here! I don't like it, Rose. Okay?"

" Is it because of those guys watching me...I swear...i didn't talk to them...Chase...please open the door...." she cried, fidgeting with her fingers.

His knuckles turned snow white as he fisted his palms tightly. He didn't like her crying.

"I don't even know them...one of the guys asked me...are you his girlfriend and I didn't say anything! Chase.... please open the door....! This is too much! I'm afraid...! Please" She looked up at the camera, wiping her tears.

That's when she noticed something else. There was no ring on her ring finger. She widened her eyes as the negative scenarios ran in her mind.

His heart clenched painfully seeing her tear-soaked face.

" Send Layana into her room with the food...!" Donovan looked at Felix and he rushed out of the study nodding his head.

Rose looked at the ring finger and traced it slowly. Donovan gritted his teeth as she traced her ring finger, slowly.

He thought she was missing him. The fact is, she was worried about her safety. Till now, she thought Chase had locked her up.

She didn't even want to think about anything else. It was scary to even imagine that man kidnapping her.

" Chase...why are you doing this to me..! I'm afraid.. please.. open the do---" she stopped whining when she heard the clicking sound of the door.

With tears in her eyes, she glanced towards the door, hopefully. She was expecting Chase to walk in through that door.

Her eyes widened in confusion looking at the unfamiliar girl in her early twenties. She was quite tall and had an olive skin, black eyes and curly hair.

Rose was looking at her in confusion. If not Chase, she expected Anila. This girl was out of the syllabus.

" Ma'am...I'm Layana...I'll be your maid from now on!" Layana spoke politely, smiling at Rose.

Rose didn't smile back.

" Ma'am...please have some food.." Layana said, placing the plate on the bed.

Rose stopped her. Layana looked at Rose in confusion.

" Um...call Chase...I want to talk to him!" She said looking at her.

Layana was prepared for this.

" Don has ordered for you to eat ma'am...he will talk to you tomorrow.." Layana said as she was instructed.

Donovan smirked looking at her confused face.

Rose felt relieved. Being locked up with Chase is far better than being with her Abuser.
