Jungkook and Luna's weeklong camping trip turned out to be just what they needed. For the first time since they met they were able enjoy themselves without worrying about anything or anyone getting in the way. It seems like it all passed so quickly and now they're back at the palace in Jungkook's room.
Once they were unpacked and settled back in, Hoseok and Jimin came by to hang out and tell them everything that's happened in the week they were gone. For the first time Jungkook and Luna are learning of Minseok's punishment and they feel a wave of relief. Though they could still run into him in the shield quarters, they know he can't follow them anywhere else.
The King gave an address to the public to explain the recent quake. The citizens were understandably concerned but he assured them there is nothing to worry about. He promised to appoint an expert to research the quakes and report back with his findings. Of course this expert didn't need to research anything, only tell the people that his findings came up clear and no one is in any danger. If there had been fires and other structural damage across the kingdom again, this story would have been much harder for people to believe. It seems the citizens accepted the story and have gone back to their normal lives.
Jungkook still feels terrible and wishes there was something he could do to make up for it. At the very least he'd like to show the King his appreciation for keeping his secret and not punishing him for losing control. He truly owes the King a lot.
The next day Jungkook leaves Luna in his room so he can go see the King. He wants to thank him personally for everything he's done. He heads across the palace grounds to the King's room feeling nervous suddenly. There's no reason for him to be nervous, he's been to the King's room many times, but he's very embarrassed about what happened. Still, the King welcomes him in with a smile.
"What brings you here?" The King asks offering Jungkook a seat on the couch next to him.
"I just wanted to thank you for...everything," Jungkook chuckles nervously. "And also tell you how sorry I am for losing control again."
"It's no problem, Jungkook," the King smiles. "I understand it's not your fault. I know how Minseok can get, you don't have to apologize."
"Do you think..." Jungkook pauses thinking maybe he shouldn't ask something so trivial to a man trying to run an entire kingdom. "Never mind."
"Jungkook, you can't start saying something then stop," the King laughs.
"I know I know," Jungkook chuckles. "It's stupid though, and after everything you've done for me my whole life I can't ask you something like that."
"Try me."
"It's just," Jungkook sighs. "I don't think my dad listens to anyone but you. Things are getting beyond ridiculous and I'm running out of ideas. Do you think you could maybe talk some sense into him?" Jungkook hits the King with his doe eyes, not to try swaying him, but because he simply doesn't realize it's a habit of his when asking for something.
"What do you think I could tell him?"
"I don't know, but I'm starting to consider moving out because he's making it impossible for me to stay here any longer." He takes a breath trying to maintain his composure, but just the thought of all of the stress and tension he's had to deal with is threatening to come spewing out. "Highness, I don't want to leave the palace, you know how serious I take my job and moving away would only make things harder. I can't do that. But I can't keep living here with him either."
"After all of these years you think I hadn't tried talking sense into him before?"
Jungkook realizes he has a point. They're best friends, of course the King probably tried talking to him before. Now he feels more embarrassed by asking such a silly favor.
