Title:

This sounds like an interesting title. When I first saw this in the form, it caught me off guard and "hooked" me to read more about it. This is a unique title that I think people should read.

Cover:

A lot of times, I have to give tiny bits of advice for the book cover since the title may not be seen right, the picture isn't like the genre etc. However, this cover is perfect. The image used gives a dark and fantasy-like story with an innocent intent but has a dark secret hidden within. I also love the fronts used for the title. It reminds me of something Netflix would make for a Fantasy show. Finally, there is nothing to improve on ( unless the author chooses to do so )

Blurb:

Where do I begin? It gives information without exposing too much of the plot and it's an intriguing blurb. It reminds me of Harry Potter at first until it gets to Joseph's love for Theodora. I also think it's interesting to see a book taking on a different reality when it comes down to sexuality. Statistically speaking in our world, 1 out of 4 people are part of the LGBT community, however, it seems as if in this world, it is switched around somewhat and even though I don't know much, it seems as if Theodora is nonbinary or a gender preference that has " " " "They/Them" pronouns which could also be why it is stated that there can't be any other relationship other than gay or lesbian. I am hoping to find a new and interesting plot.

Plot:

This is interesting! I love Fantasy, but most of the time I just don't take to it. However, this story changed my mind. I love the plot with the Aunt and the prologue was a good introduction to pull the readers in. I think this is a great plot for someone who wants a fresh and new perspective on fantasy.

Characterization/Character Development:

There isn't anything to improve on. I like the different characters portrayed, especially Theodora and the Aunt. Theodora goes by a "they" which makes the reader wonder what they actually look like. Also, they are great characters that portray intelligence and strength. The Aunt is a stereotypical villain that doesn't stick well with other genres but when it comes to fantasy, you really don't want a super relatable villain since it is about magic. To me, fantasy was created as a hyperreality that the authors of that book can escape to, so having a relatable villain can sometimes ruin it. However, using the stereotypical villain approach can also be annoying at times since it is shallow but the author really portrayed the Aunt as a happy medium. Her ruthlessness and power are like every villain but what makes her unique is the concept of she represents what a LOT of humans can be in real life with the LGBT Community. There are a lot of families that do NOT want their kids to be in a relationship with the same sex, transgender or someone who is gender neutral and in some cases some actually DO kill their daughter, son, etc because of it. So, even though the Aunt isn't related in the sense of a terrible backstory with relatable themes, it is relatable in a lot of people's homes and the type of monster that lurks in their very own homes.

Grammar/Spelling:

No errors from what I can tell.

Overall:

This is a great book and I will be following the author to re-read it and actually did into it in full. Great job!
