When they walk into their own room, Jake immediately starts unpacking his things, looking to keep himself busy despite how tired he is. Neytiri sits on their large woven bed, feeling the soft blankets. Then she begins to observe the subtle frustration of her restless mate.Neytiri- They are troubling you?
Jake- No. No, I think they'll warm up to each other over time.
Neytiri- Then what does trouble you?
Jake- Neteyam.
Neytiri gives her mate an understanding look. She knows he's constantly worrying about their oldest son, because the boy was fighting alongside him in the war, and has since become a little on edge even with the battle over.
Neytiri- The children know you brought us here for a fresh start, and a new life of peace. They will be fine. Neteyam will be fine.
Jake- Lo'ak, Kiri, and Tuk, sure. But Neteyam? No, that boy doesn't trust anyone, and he hates the water. He'll never open up to this place.
Neytiri- Jake-
Jake- Maybe we should've just stayed in the forest.
Jake plops down the bag he held, making Neytiri leave her spot and stand next to him, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.
Neytiri- The war with the sky people is over. You led us to victory. But the forest holds too many bad memories for us to be at peace, that is why you moved us away. To leave that in the past.
Jake- But Nete-
Neytiri- Neteyam will see there is no one here to fear. He will find peace, do not doubt that.
Jake- I know, I'm not. I just know it'll be hard.
Neytiri- He will have Lo'ak with him every step of the way.
Jake smiles slightly at the thought of how close his two sons are, he knows they'll always have each other's backs and never betray one another.
All mothers make tsaheylu with their children to ensure a strong relationship, but Neteyam and Lo'ak became so close they decided to bond with each other.
Neytiri is proud of her sons for being able to trust each other wholeheartedly. Jake, on the other hand, worries about their bond. Thinking if one of them were to ever disagree and rebel against him, the other would automatically do the same. He would lose both of his sons.
Sometimes when he's just doing his job as a father and instructing Neteyam as he should, he can tell Lo'ak tries to defend his brother. Like earlier, when he was giving him a small lecture but Lo'ak tried to drive him away with an excuse.
Sure he knows he would never consciously do anything to drive either one of them away, though that doesn't stop the thought from surfacing in his mind. But he tries to stay positive, and appreciate the closeness of his sons. He just hopes Neteyam never finds himself in any actual trouble.
