Neteyam quickly hops out of bed after hearing the muffled words of his father, and goes over to the door to open it and ask for a repeat, but before his words get out, he hears his name being called again, closer this time.He steps out of the room, and heads to the staircase. From the top he can see his father standing at the base, looking up at him with his brows furrowed.
After a glance behind himself towards his sibling that followed him, he slowly descends the stairs.
Neteyam- What is it?
Jake takes in a long breath, fidgeting with his hands, and Neteyam grows concerned watching the behavior. His father never usually displays his nervousness so obviously.
Jake- Sorry to bother you, glad you're talking now. You alright?
Neteyam- Yeah. What's wrong with you?
Jake- (sighs) We have Aonung on the phone . . . He doesn't sound too good.
His tail flicks, and he doesn't waste a second heading towards the phone, but his father grabs his arm, turning him back around.
Jake- Just wait-
Neteyam- Why? You said he doesn't sound good. Is he hurt? Let me speak to him.
Jake- No, he isn't hurt, yet.
Once Lo'ak and Kiri are downstairs, all three teens exchange looks before aiming their gazes at Jake, the most intense gaze coming from the oldest.
Neteyam- What is that supposed to mean?
With a sigh, and a bit of an apologetic expression, Jake releases his arm gently, but Neteyam still stands, awaiting an answer, as do his siblings. Their father looks between them, observing the concern on their faces that's growing by the second.
Jake- He's drunk.
He states in a quick breath, and receives the most utterly confused and perplexed look from his oldest son.
Neteyam- That's not . . . He never gets-
Jake- I know. He called and was asking for you but it was obvious he wasn't all there. I asked him where he was, he said he had no clue and thought that shit was funny.
The shock on Neteyam's face is quickly replaced with fear, and a strong hint of guilt that doesn't go unnoticed to his father.
Jake- I may not know him like you do, but I know well enough to recognize this isn't like him. Did something happen?
His guilt grows, accompanied by disbelief. He never thought their argument would cause such a reaction. Though, he was very surprised when Aonung had gotten rough with him, but just because the boy doesn't hurt people doesn't mean he can't get his point across.
Neteyam- We had an argument earlier. I could tell there was something really bothering him, but he refused to even explain so I could help, and I just got sick of it and kind of-
Jake- You snapped at him?
Neteyam- We snapped at each other.
Lo'ak- But there's no way that made him go get fucked up, he's tougher than that. Right?
Jake- I would hope so. Rotxo wasn't enough to break him, so I wonder what is. Either way, when you talk to him, keep him on the phone as long as you can and try to keep him in one place, I'm going to his parents.
