While Kiri, Tsireya, and Tuktirey hang out in the girls' room, Neteyam and Lo'ak head to their own.Neteyam sits on his bed, folding his legs comfortably, then Lo'ak plops down in front of him, and lays back on his lap. Neteyam chuckles a bit and plays with his brother's braids.
Neteyam- You're such a baby.
Lo'ak- A baby brother.
Neteyam- Skxawng.
Lo'ak- Not my fault I like attention.
He rolls his eyes with another small chuckle.
Lo'ak- Speaking of attention. Aonung's had a lot of yours lately.
Neteyam- Is someone feeling jealous?
Lo'ak- No.
Neteyam- You sure?
Lo'ak- . . . No . . . but that isn't why I brought it up.
Neteyam- Then why did you?
Lo'ak- He was quiet.
Neteyam- So?
Lo'ak- Bro, I think you hurt his feelings. He thought you guys were friends.
Neteyam- I still trust him, he's my ally.
Lo'ak- But you don't wanna be friends?
Neteyam- Correct.
Lo'ak- You really have no clue how damn confusing that sounds.
Neteyam- It's not complicated.
Lo'ak- Yes it is, and it's strange, even for you.
With a sigh, Neteyam pushes Lo'ak to lean up. He turns and faces him, folding his legs as well.
Lo'ak- Come on, bro, tell me what's up.
Neteyam reaches back for his bond, and holds it out to Lo'ak. Thinking it's for him to better understand something, he takes it, and pulls his own forward, connecting them in tsaheylu.
Lo'ak- Okay. Why don't you want to be friends with Aonung?
As he mentions the marine boy's name, a slight fluttering feeling flows into him from Neteyam. It feels sweet and pure, like innocence.
Lo'ak- Bro, do you like him?
Neteyam- I think so, a little.
He gently disconnects their bonds, and look up with excitement.
Lo'ak- That's insane! You never like anyone. (gasps) Bro, that's cold, you know Tsireya's into you.
Neteyam- Keep your voice down, skxawng, it's probably just a short crush, it'll fade.
Lo'ak- I'm not so sure about that. Like if it were me, yeah, but not you.
Neteyam- Think so?
Lo'ak- Yup. Which is why you should go and unhurt his feelings.
Neteyam- How?
Lo'ak- Make him your friend. You like him, you should want to be his friend.
Neteyam- But I don't.
Lo'ak- It's alright to start out like that, ya'know. You can work your way up to something else later. So stop being, well, you and try to handle this properly.
Neteyam- But-
He reaches a hand forward, tapping Neteyam's forehead.
Lo'ak- He can't read your mind.
He pulls his hand back, crossing his arms.
Lo'ak- You're gonna have to use your words. So tell him you wanna be friends.
Neteyam looks down, fiddling with his fingers.
Neteyam- Fine.
Lo'ak- Then all you have to do is woo him with your sexiness.
Neteyam playfully rolls his eyes as he laughs, and Lo'ak laughs with him.
Lo'ak- I can't believe you actually like someone, though. My heart is beating like crazy, bro, I'm excited.
Neteyam- Don't get too excited.
Lo'ak- I know, 'cause you take things agonizingly slow.
He rolls his eyes again, thinking his slow approach is justified. At first he figured he was just feeling flattered because of how much Aonung was doing for him, but now talking it out with his brother, he knows he's accidentally caught a bit of affection for the marine boy.
Though, it's hard not to, with Aonung prioritizing him the way he does.
