Luminous Nights [Neteyam x Aonung]

Dark Nights : Part 16

At the home of the clan leader, an hour after midnight, Aonung's deep slumber comes to an end. His eyes open, only seeing darkness, and he wonders why he suddenly woke. He nearly falls back asleep, until his hand feels an empty space next to him, and his eyes snap open again.

After leaning up, he looks around, wondering where Neteyam could've gone off to. He decides the boy probably went to the bathroom, then what woke him to begin with sounds again.

A loud knock coming from downstairs, followed by voices, letting him know the door was just answered, but having visitors at 1 in the morning isn't normal. He slides out of his bed, his eyes adjusting to the dark, then he locates his clothing and puts it on.

The sound of footsteps coming up the stairs is heard, confusing him a bit. He runs his hands through his hair as he goes up to the door, hoping to tame it some, but the moment he opens it, someone grabs him.

He's pulled out of the room and slammed against the wall with his back facing a few officers, and is cuffed immediately after. Tsireya emerges from her room just as their parents reach the top of the stairs.

Tonowari- Unhand my son!

Ronal- Who do you think you are, barging in here at this hour!

One of the guys turns to face his parents while the other two hold him still.

Officer- I keep telling you he needs to go in for questioning.

Tonowari- For what?!

Officer- Beating a man to death.

Ronal meets her son's gaze in disbelief.

Tonowari- Surely it wasn't him, he is a kind boy.

Officer- Nope, he's the prime suspect, we've got a key witness that says he did it. Now if you'll excuse us.

He snaps his fingers and the two others pull Aonung off the wall and take him to the staircase with more force than necessary.

Tonowari- Surely you don't have to handle him so roughly.

Officer- Not taking any chances with a murderer.

Aonung- I'm not a murderer!

Officer- Gag him, he might bite.

One of the men pulls a cloth from his pouch and does as instructed, then they continue down the staircase. Feeling enraged, Ronal steps towards the officer, but Tonowari holds her back.

Ronal- Don't mistreat him!

Officer- Have a nice night, or morning, whichever you wanna call it.

With that, he descends the stairs and, with the others, he leaves on their raft. Ronal heads downstairs to sooth her now crying baby, and Tonowari turns to his daughter.

Tonowari- Do you know anything about this?

Tsireya- No, but I can't imagine him doing anything like that.

Tonowari- Do you know about Rotxo's family?

Tsireya- I only know that he and his brother aren't right in the head, because of what they did to Aonung.

He hums in response, and knows this definitely has something to do with those boys and the rest of their family, but he also knows there may be someone he can call for some help. An old friend of his, named Crystalia, who also happens to be the head of the school.
