Luminous Nights [Neteyam x Aonung]

First Nights : Part 24

Suddenly, Neteyam's name is heard faintly, but enough for him to recognize who's calling him. He quickly yanks back, abruptly breaking the kiss.

His hands now grasp at Aonung's wrists, pulling them gently from his face as he turns to face the door. He hears footsteps, and his name is called again, making him swim to the side of the pool, preparing to get out.

Jake rushes into the room, locking his frantic gaze on Neteyam as the boy clubs out of the water.

Jake- Neteyam, we gotta go. Come on.

His words are rushed, and he quickly turns back out of the room, making Neteyam chase after him. Aonung quickly follows, to see what's up. He runs to catch up to the other two already down the hall.

Neteyam- Father, what's going on?

Jake- Lo'ak is at the police station, we have to go get him.

His heart drops, making him speechless as he glances back at Aonung. Jake rushes right up to the front door, opening it, and Neteyam goes right outside behind him, closing it after. Aonung stands near the staircase, wondering what Lo'ak could've done to get involved with the authorities.

He sees Kiri heading into the kitchen shaking her head and rubbing her temples. He follows her in, and walks up to her as she pours herself something to drink.

Aonung- What happened?

She looks up at him as she takes a quick sip.

Kiri- I don't know, but he's been hanging out with your friend a lot lately.

Aonung- Which friend?

Kiri- Rotxo.

His entire body chills, and he feels a rise of anger so sudden his vision goes dark.

The sound of a shriek restores his senses, and he can feel his heart pounding as he breathes heavily. He lets his vision focus, and sees a large dent in the malfunctioning dishwasher.

He looks over and sees Kiri standing back from him with fear evident on her face. Her glass lies shattered on the floor, surrounded by what was left of her drink.

Ronal rushes into the room, having heard the commotion. She takes in the sight, and looks at both teens with concern.

Ronal- What's the matter?

She looks to Kiri, but the girl doesn't speak, only glances between Aonung and the dishwasher. She takes a step towards him, seeing how distressed he is, but she doesn't get to ask why.

He leaves the kitchen, going right up the stairs and to his room.
