The next morning, Neteyam's golden eyes peel open, and his body registers the boy currently spooning him. A moment after, he closes his eyes back, knowing he doesn't have to work on Saturdays, but the abrupt sound of banging on his room door startles them open again. He hears his brother shouting about something, then frantically he slides out of the bed, glancing back at the surprisingly undisturbed marine boy. He takes a quick breath of relief before rushing over to his door and swinging it open.
Lo'ak's frantic looking face is the first thing he sees.
Lo'ak- Mom and Dad abandoned us, bro!
He pushes his brother back towards his other siblings standing in the hall, while simultaneously closing his room door behind him.
Neteyam- Keep it down, Lo.
Lo'ak suddenly gasps lightly, covering his mouth for a moment as he remembers why he was sleeping in the girls' room to begin with. Kiri uncrosses her arms and hands Neteyam a note.
Kiri- They went on a little vacation, from us. I think we stressed them out.
Lo'ak- Abandonment.
Neteyam- They aren't abandoning us.
He shakes his head at his dramatic brother, then reads the note closely. There's an extra message at the bottom, telling him to handle grocery shopping.
He sighs, a little annoyed by that fact, since he hates grocery shopping. Normally Kiri goes along with their mother when she shops, not that she wants to either. Both Lo'ak and Tuktirey love to go, but they always put random things in the cart that aren't needed.
Neteyam- Guess I'm shopping today.
Tuktirey- Can I come?
Neteyam- No, sorry Tuk. I'm gonna have to use my own money and I'm not wasting it on things we don't need.
Kiri- I'm stuck on kid duty, aren't I?
She asks with a slight pout, already knowing the answer.
Neteyam- Pretty much. If Aonung doesn't wake, you might have to keep an eye on him too.
Lo'ak- So that means I get to go?
Neteyam- (sighs) Unfortunately.
Lo'ak- You love me, bro.
Neteyam- Not when you waste my money I don't. Who wants to make breakfast?
The youngest aggressively shoves her older siblings out of the way to stand in front of Neteyam, beaming up at him.
Tuktirey- Me!
Neteyam- The house is already shot up, we aren't trying to burn it down as well.
His room door suddenly opens, making him turn around, and out walks a sleepy looking Aonung.
Aonung- I'll cook, just let me wash first.
Neteyam- Oh, alright. There's our bathroom.
Aonung- Thanks.
As he walks past the others, they stand silent, and Tuktirey glares at him for stealing her chance to cook breakfast. Little does she know it was never going to happen either way.
Once they hear the sound of the shower, Neteyam aims a glare at his younger brother.
Lo'ak- What?
Neteyam- You woke him.
Lo'ak- Well everyone else is awake, he might as well be too.
Kiri- He's just mad he got kicked out of the room.
She smirks in amusement at him.
Neteyam- If you were allowed to stay, you'd be traumatized, Lo. Be glad Aonung was nice enough to let you leave first.
Lo'ak- . . . Gross.
Neteyam chuckles lightly, then walks back into his room to grab something clean for Aonung to wear, and Lo'ak follows. While Kiri and Tuktirey head to their room to wash up for the day.
Lo'ak- So, does this mean I don't get to shop with you?
Neteyam- I'm not sure yet, I have to see if he feels like going.
Lo'ak- If he does, can I still come with?
Neteyam- Lo'ak-
Lo'ak- Come on, bro. We have to go to Yar's.
He pauses in place for a split second.
Neteyam- Shit, I forgot about that.
Lo'ak- So, let me come with?
Neteyam- What if Aonung doesn't want to see him again?
With a chosen fresh green colored loincloth, and also one that's black and purple, Neteyam heads back into the hall with Lo'ak in tow.
Lo'ak- Then he can stay here.
Neteyam- Mm.
Lo'ak- Bro, we have to go. We need to clear this up.
Neteyam- Let me make sure Aonung's okay first.
