Ara watched Kanoa fix their daughter's duvet and made sure she was okay. It had been a week since they decided that Antoinette needed her own bed and they got her one. It was a toddler bed perfect for her.
It was even in pink because they let their daughter choose.
They were still in one bedroom, but since Antoinette's getting bigger, she needed her own. Sumisikip na rin kasi ang kama para sa kanilang tatlo. Ayaw naman niyang pumayag na sa sahig si Kanoa. Gusto rin naman kasi niya itong katabi.
"Asleep?" tanong ni Ara at nginitian si Kanoa. "Do you wanna watch a movie muna?"
Naglakad si Kanoa papalapit sa kaniya. Nagulat siya nang alisin nito ang duvet na nakabalot sa kalahating katawan niya at maingat na umibabaw sa kaniya. Hinalikan nito ang pisngi niya pababa sa leeg.
"So, ito ang purpose kaya bumili na tayo ng bed ni Antoinette?" Ara joked. "I get it now."
Kanoa chuckled against her neck and shook his head before pulling away without saying a word. Aalis na sana ito sa pagkakaibabaw sa kaniya nang ipalibot niya ang dalawang legs sa baywang nito.
"I was just kidding," Ara kissed Kanoa's cheek. "How's your day? Pagod ka?"
"Hindi naman. Nag-enjoy nga ako sa pagpunta natin sa park kanina. Ikaw? Kumusta sa office kanina?" tanong ni Kanoa at hinalikan ang pisngi niya. "Na-miss kita kanina."
Ara scrunched her nose and smiled. She cupped Kanoa's face using both her hands and kissed the side of his lips. "It was okay. We had a meeting and I have a new project, but all good. It was easy naman. I have to eat different foods lang. Like taste test."
"For sure, excited ka," natawa si Kanoa.
"I am. They're gonna send food here and mostly, desserts. You'll join me para same tayo and I'll get your opinions din," ngumiti si Ara. "Para mabilis ko matapos and hindi bias. Para wala na rin akong gagawin sa mga susunod."
Kanoa agreed.
Ara subtly jolted when Kanoa traced the tip of his nose against her lips to her jaw and kissed her neck. She closed her eyes and held onto Kanoa's arms while breathing heavily. It had been long since they made love. They couldn't because of Antoinette then Ara got sick and busy.
Aside from that, they were trying to fight the urge because they wanted to be careful. They weren't ready for another baby because Ara was a little busy and they couldn't risk it, too.
They may be joking about having another baby, but their current situation wasn't ideal. Kanoa's visa wasn't permanent and Ara didn't want to carry their baby alone. Also, they wanted to get married first.
. . . but there were also times that they needed it.
"Kanoa," Ara whispered when Kanoa thrust inside her. "Please."
Kanoa pressed his body against her. Their lower part was covered with a duvet. It was cold, but both were sweating. They quietly moved and moans were subtle making sure their daughter won't wake up.
Ara encircled her left arm around Kanoa's neck as he kissed her shoulder until he pulled away from her. His right hand supported his weight while the other caressed Ara's thighs as he moved.
He was taking his time. They both missed this and they weren't rushing.
Pasimpleng nilingon ni Kanoa si Antoinette. Nakatalikod ito sa kanila at mahimbing na natutulog. Ibinalik niya ang tingin kay Ara nang maramdaman niya ang paghigpit ng mga binti nitong nasa baywang niya.
Samantalang nakita ni Ara kung paanong ngumiti si Kanoa na bumagal sa paggalaw ngunit idiniin pa ang katawan sa kaniya.
"Ara..." Mahinang sambit ni Kanoa. "Wag muna."
Nagsalubong ang kilay niya sa sinabi ni Kanoa. "What do you mean?" pang-aasar niya.
"Ayoko pang labasan," seryosong sabi ni Kanoa habang nakatitig sa kaniya. Huminto pa ito sa paggalaw. "Huwag kang mag-muscle control. Please lang."
But she didn't listen. She did it again and instantly regretted it when Kanoa pull out and stared at her.
"I'm just kidding," Ara murmured.
Kanoa chuckled and kissed her lips then put it inside her without a warning making her gasp. They moaned in sync and both laughed.
Ara breathed and felt every thrust. It felt so good and the subtle light from Antoinette's night lamp was enough for her to see Kanoa's face.
She could feel the release and she knew that Kanoa's near, too. His thrusts were harder and she could him breathe.
... until they saw Antoinette move and scratched her eyes making them stop.
"Dada..." Antoinette whispered who was still in her bed, hugging her stuffed toy. "Daddy. I want watch."
Ara bit her lower lip and Kanoa stood up without saying a word.
"Bihis ka na, love. Malamig. Bathroom lang ako sandali," bulong ni Kanoa bago nagmamadaling pumasok sa bathroom na nasa kwarto nila.
Nilingon ni Ara si Antoinette. Nakahiga ito, pero gising dahil nilalaro ang stuffed toy. Hindi siya gumalaw para hindi nito makitang gising siya dahil nakahubad pa rin siya, nakabalot lang ng comforter.
"Dada," pagtawag ni Antoinette kay Kanoa. Mukhang paiyak na ito.
Akmang babangon si Ara nang lumabas ng bathroom si Kanoa. Suot na nito ang jogger pants at kinuha ang T-shirt na nasa gilid ng kama.
"Ako na. Maglinis ka na para makatulog ka na rin," sabi nito na dumiretso kay Antoinette. "Ano'ng watch natin? Ayaw mo na mag-sleep?"
Hindi kumilos si Ara. Nakatingin lang siya kay Kanoa na binuhat si Antoinette at mahinang isinayaw. Mukhang matutulog ulit.
"Ara. Magbihis ka na. Malamig."
