I sat on the couch with Ruby. She was pale today, I watched as she leaned on me and took even breaths. She looked at me and I rubbed her arm. She was pale looking. I wanted her to feel better. “Are you alright?” I asked she just nodded then said “I don’t feel so good but I’ll be fine.” I smiled at her and kissed her fore head. “alright but you tell me if you get any sicker alright and I want the doctor to see you right away.”

She took my arm and said “no I’m fine just a little bit of an upset stomach. Ok? I just need rest with some soup and crackers.” I nodded and said “alright I’ll get you some.” I got up and walked out. She refused to see a doctor but what if she was badly sick what if it got worse. I don’t want her in any pain. I made some chicken noodle soup and grabbed some saltines. I sighed and walked back to our room. As I walked in I didn’t see her anywhere.

Then I heard a sound coming from the bed room area I ran down to the bed and saw the bathroom door open. I ran in seeing Ruby with her face in the toilet. Why was my mate so sick. I had enough. “Ruby I’m getting the doctor.” I stated as I held her hair. “no Ash I just read a letter from Hank that made me feel sick sorry.” She stated I sighed and she handed me the paper as she washed out her mouth. I read it over and my own stomach flipped inside me.

This is hard for me to write but I tried to contact you before this happened. Jango sent a scout out to Nathan’s pack but he didn’t return then he and Anna went… they haven’t returned. Ruby the scout returned and what he has reported is horrible. Jango and Anna are captured they are still alive for what we know but it’s been a week since then. The scout Quin is in bad shape and… Ruby I have orders from Jango to announce you as the new alpha. Please I beg of you to help us… we have no alpha and a pack without one will not survive an attack. Please Ruby.

I looked at her. “you’re in no condition to travel.” I stated she looked at me and said “Ash my pack needs me.” I growled and said “Were your pack I need you!” she sighed and shook her head. “Ash I love you but I need to go back. We need to help other packs. We can’t put ourselves before the pack no matter how much I want to stay here with you I can’t I have to save that pack.” I sighed she was right a pack without an alpha was doomed to fail. “fine. But you call me when you get there and call me every night.”

She smiled at me and kissed me saying “I promise.” She then started to pack her things. I sighed and leaned on the bathroom wall. I can’t believe what’s happened what possessed Jango to go their alone with his mate. for god’s sake his mate! I walked into the bed room seeing Ruby packing her bags. She stopped once in a while taking a deep breath. She would travel in her condition as she was.

I laid on the cold floor looking at Jango who was chained to the wall opposite me. The men here were horrid. I felt the tears run down my face as they continued their assault on my body. “Enough!” one shouted I looked up seeing a blonde man looking at them. “leave the female alone already you had your fun!” he shouted the men grunted and pulled their pants up. Jango was still pulling on his silver chains trying to break them to kill my assaulters. I looked at the blonde man. The rogues pushed passed him and went back up stairs.
