Chapter 9: You're In It

Maloi's POV

"You'll wait? Talaga ba?" Sheena asked me again as if she's doubting my decision.

"Malabo 'yan, Maloi! Hindi mo nga alam kung may gusto sa'yo 'yong tao." Colet butted in.

"Edi let's make her figure out if she likes Maloi." Mikha smirked. "Besides, they're inseparable kaya kahit sa village." she added at inakbayan pa ako.

"Shut up, you three. Namumuro na kayo." I warned them. We're inside the gym at kasama namin ang lahat ng year level to practice for the prom tomorrow. I'm a social butterfly lalo na sa school because of theater and some school activities pero ngayon, wala ako sa mood makipagsocialize. I'd rather deal with these three assholes, at least alam kong panatag ako.

"Mikhs, diba you're rich rich naman? Can you tell Stacey na gustuhin friend natin?" Sheena started again.

"What am I gonna tell her though? Sampung milyon, lapitan mo kaibigan ko." Colet and Sheena bursted into laughter while I'm here, casually sitting.

The dancer instructors gave us 30 minutes break so the girls automatically approached us. When I say 'girls', JL is included. I don't know but I feel like there's something wrong to him. Perks of being the observant among the group.

"Hey!" Aiah greeted and subtly sat beside Mikha who just ignored Aiah.

"Do you have dates na for tomorrow night?" Jhoanna asked, pasimple niya pang tiningnan si Colet na nakayuko habang nagmamanhid-manhidan. I swear to God, halatang-halata sila!

"Diba we'll go together?" JL butted in.

"Ah yes, how about you, Col?" Jhoanna shyly asked my best friend. The latter shook her head at hindi na sumagot.

"I'll prolly go alone too, sasamahan ko 'tong hopiang tropa ko." Mikha teased Colet sabay inakbayan pa.

"Oh, btw, Aiah is free is you're interested, Maloi." Colet winked, pakiramdam ko sinisimulan na nila 'yong plano to let Stacey figure out if I have a small chance on her.

"Can I be your date then, Aiah?" I asked sincerely. Ayaw ko namang gamitin siya dahil lang sa plano ng friends ko. But Aiah seemed shocked and Mikha behaving quite bothered.

"Su—re.." she replied.

Throughout the practice, I noticed that unlike other girl who would tend to look at me as if ready to devour me it was not shone in Aiah's eyes. She was not even making an eye contact with me. I am not worried though instead it was an assurance to my part knowing that my supposed date would no less just be a friend to me.

Napatingin ako kay Stacey and I caught her looking at me too. When she saw me staring intently at her, she looked away and pretended talking to Jhoanna. As much as I want to ask her to be my date, gusto ko kasi bigyan muna siya ng peace lalo na't I kinda pressured her with my confession even when I gave her the assurance.

Ang pinaka ayaw kong mangyari ay pabayaan ang feelings niya dahil alam ko ang pakiramdam na mapabayaan.

Aiah and I had agreed to meet each other in school rather than we had to go through meeting the parents process, am honestly glad we had somehow avoided that knowing that it would eventually lead to nuisance expectations from the oldies. Given that our families knows our gender identity.

I decided to wait near the entrance for my date but just my luck it was then Stacey's arrival with her stud of a date. She's with Gelo. A senior like Aiah. I didn't know she had a date na, buti nalang hindi ako naglakas loob na ayain siya.

"Hey, Maloi!" she greeted showing her gummy smile at me.

I just nodded back hoping that my facial expression did not give out how jealous I am. It was then I noticed that I was engulfed in a hug and someone had pecked my cheek. Turning it was Aiah.
