Stacey's POV
"Mom, how does falling in love feel like?" I asked my mom.
"Stacey, aren't you too young to ask about love?" she asked back.
"Well, there was this friend of mine, obviously not me because I said it was my 'friend', she thought she's in love with a certain popular girl so she confessed and when she got rejected, she realized that she's not in love with this popular girl but she's really in love with her closest friend. Oh, I forgot to tell you, we're in the same circle." I explained.
"Well, tell that friend of yours that it's forbidden to fall in love with a girl." She replied with conviction.
"But why, mom? Love is love. I can fall in love with the person regardless of his/her gender preference." I told her, later on, I realized I use "I" instead of "she".
"So, this friend of yours is you all along?"
"Mom, it's not what you think."
"I'm sorry to break it to you, honey. But I won't allow my ONLY DAUGHTER to fall in love with her same gender. What will the others think? That's a big scandal! And you're suppose to marry Gelo when you guys are in the right age. Think about your dad's sacrifices for our company." she explained, and for the nth time, wala akong nagawa para ipagtanggol ang sarili ko.
I grew up with strict parents that strictly believes in traditional bullshits. Since I was a kid, wala na akong ibang ginawa kundi sundin sila at umakto na naaayon sa gusto nila. When I met Maloi, she brought a light into my dark and messed up life. With her, I'm free and I can be myself. She's a ray of sunshine and her smile made me feel like my life's already rotating on her.
But when I asked mom for an advice, she immediately turned down the idea of me falling in love with her. That's when I met Lance. When he courted me, I said yes and we eventually became a couple after a few months. He's caring, understanding, loving, and respectful but he's not Maloi. I had to choose him over her because mom was checking all my stuffs.
"Are you going to see your friends again?" Lance asked iritably.
"Why do I feel like mali sa paningin mo na kitain ko friends ko?" I asked back.
"They're gay for fuck's sake! Baka mahawa ka pa." he said.
"Jerk! They're my friends and for your information, hindi sakit ang magmahal. You know what? Let's break up." I told him at nagsimulang maglakad papalayo. I heard him shouting my name but I didn't bother looking. I can't believe that I let myself to be in a relationship with an asshole.
