Maloi's POV
7 years, that's how long we were in that kind of relationship.
WERE...Past tense.
When we graduated from our pre-med degrees, we decided to look for our own place so that we can still be together. Moving in together, I thought it was a natural progress for us. But I was wrong. She was constantly going out with Gelo and she started missing our dinner dates and hang out with friends during our med school days. I almost lost myself in the process of settling with her.
She thinks I don't hear her when she sneaks in for quick chats or phone calls at night with him in the dead of the night. She thinks I don't notice how, on some occasions, she comes back with swollen eyes from crying. She thinks I wasn't affected everytime she'll broke down and suddenly wanted to cut me off of her life. We both said goodbye a thousand times but I ended up fighting for her.
I was and still am, clueless about her reasons for the open relationship we had. I never asked her. I just hold her hand and tell her that we're in this together. That I'm never letting her go. I endured it for 7 years because she told me that status doesn't matter. That she loves me and that's all she needs.
4th year in Med School, second week of September. I will never forget that day.
"Maloi! Maloi!" Stacey same rushing into our room, a big smile plastered on her face. She jumped on the bed and hugged me.
"Yes babe?" I hugged her back and kissed her.
"Mom called, informing me that we will be having a dinner tonight! I'm so excited!" she was laughing as tears fell from her eyes. She was kicking her legs in excitement.
"That's cool! Sobrang excited ka naman, eh hindi ba lagi naman kayong lumalabas?" I asked but she suddenly stiffened up.
"O-oh, right. ha-ha." she answered awkwardly.
"Should I come with you? Hmm, I've been thinking lately, maybe we should take our relationship to the next level? it's been years, Stacku." I carefully said.
"Babe, I'm sorry I can't bring you with me. Gelo's family will be there." she looked down.
Oh right. Gelo again. Saan naman ako lulugar sa mundo mo?
